I remember being fifteen (1989) and I had just got back from Britain where I had fallen for a guy. I was a bit wasted, lying on a couch at a party, feeling a little sorry for myself, and this song came on. I shouted "who wrote this!!!!" And I have been a fan ever since!!

Even bubblegum songs penned by Mike Batt are good: "Bullfrog - I couldn't believe (1970)" penned by Mike Batt and Miki Anthony and "Mr Poem (1968)", & "I See Wonderful Things In You (UK 1968)", "Fading Yellow", "Lady of the Dawn", among others. Genius.

Never heard of Mike Batt until just now when I saw his name in the comments on video of Art Garfunkel sing it. Kudos to Mike Batt for writing this brilliant song. Mike Batt has a nice voice but I can't bear to listen to anyone other than Art Garfunkel singing Bright Eyes. Whether he technically should or not Art sustains the notes for longer than Mike Batt does and to me Art Garfunkel's version will never be beaten.
