The reason for OSRS was not due to graphics, people didn't like the new combat system.

I quit RS when they redid the look again in 2008 or 09. I was fine when they changed a bunch of looks around 06ish but the next one was too much of a change after they already ruined trade and PVP. And then came back for OSRS, never even knowing they changed the combat in RS until years later.

Autogenerated rooms with set people will be fantastic. It means that each room will create a little bit of intimacy. If two+ random people zone into a zone they both will be using for some time, it creates a huge social icebreaker. I imagine that if you join to cook with a few others, it creates a fully co-operative environment.

@jumpkicking3 ай бұрын
@@nameunavailable-gp3ot I disagree, thirty people running around and fighting over resources and monsters wasn't exactly immersive. You walk somewhere and there happens to be a few people, you co-operate and it's some nice easy fun. I think people doing different components of cooking and having roles ect is pretty immersive. A quaint little kitchen, a somber mine, a few others supports this.

@michaeldavies1471 Gower had a great feeling of loss after selling runescape. I don't think it was a bad decision, I feel the financial stability was far more important for him. Gower wants to reclaim the essence of what he made and no better than this. I know this will be fun and enjoyable, because he is still hungry for it after all this time. He can make mistakes ect, but he wont abandon it. This is probably akin to having a grandchild, feeling what it felt back then to cultivate the game.

Brighter Shores is controlled by legitimate owners. Jagex is controlled by a bunch of investors. There's a growing crowd of people that, I believe, do not want to deal with investor-controlled games anymore. For good and obvious reasons.

Not long, i was a bit annoyed too but at least it gives time to make final changes
@ANONM60D2 ай бұрын
Then you likely weren't invested in the concept to begin with. Thus game has been in the works for years. A two month delay to the release date after losing a key member of the team and taking time to polish the game so it's received well is very reasonable. A delay until 2025 would be reasonable. I would rather be a little patient and have a new game that will last 30+ years rather than rush the game and be disappointed on release.
@gamekeyp2 ай бұрын
@ANONM60D yeah sure I don't mind waiting to be fair, but at the same time it kills any hype for it that had been building. Also when there is one delay expect others. Waiting and being in a constant state of edging in excitement to be told it's pushed back sucks. Would rather stop being hype and just chill. Besides even when it comes out it's not feature complete, gotta wait for pvp and I think trading. The constant hype build will doom it cuz all the edging won't live up to the hype. Automatically thinking it's gonna last 30 plus years on hope just because the gower brothers is part of the problem
@ANONM60D2 ай бұрын
@gamekeyp correct me if I'm worng here, but it seems like on one hand, you're saying the game won't live up to the hype, and on the other, you're saying the hype is dying. Equating the hype to edging seems like something personal that isn't exactly a widespreadbelief, but maybe I'm wrong. I agree that assuming that the game will last decades based on nothing at all can be detrimental, but I haven't seen anyone say it will. The only thing close to this remark is noticed was my one statement, where I simply laid out a hypothetical saying that I'd rather the game be delayed, polished, and received well rather than rushed and fail early. .. and you seem to have agreed with that

Andrew is a passionate developer and designer. He's also a wealthy man so the servers will never shut down. If the player base dwindles it will only make the community close-knit. I think it will be successful. People used to say that games were niche, but runescpaes monolithic cultural impact for a game that is 100% grind shows us that this game is not even niche really.
