Hey Matt, I'm graduating with an Associate's degree in June and am considering an online Bachelor's in IT while aiming for an SDR position. Given your experience, do you think pursuing this degree would be beneficial for my career in tech sales, or should I direct my focus entirely towards gaining and excelling in the role? I appreciate the honest and helpful content as it has helped me decide which career I want to pursue!

It’s not needed. If I had a kid and they were 18 and wanted to get into sales, I’d advise them not to go to college…it’s not needed. Most big companies are hiring for sales roles and don’t require a college degree. The tide is shifting. I loved my college experience…but it’s a scam for someone looking to get into sales (and most professions). The bachelors in IT can only help, but not needed

@@MattMacnamara Hey Matt, thanks for the response. I’m curious if the same holds true for advancing into managerial positions? Additionally, how beneficial and/or necessary would a degree be if I decided to shift toward a more technical role in the future, such as a sales engineer or another IT-related position?

@@MountainMotivvation a bachelor's degree can only help...a lot of leadership positions will require one and a lot of IT-related positions require one. If you can find an affordable college program that won't put you in crippling debt, do it
