in my silver wolf series i have been working with a hot tent . in this video i will be answering a few questions on safety /set up / and dangers you need to be aware of before putting a fire inside a tent or cabin. a small wood stove will be used in the onewind outdoors tent and i plan on being safe with its operation. terms such as draft / airflow / heat retain /smoke/ are all covered as well as the dangers of this set up.

Been watching for about two years and really enjoy the silver foxes video's. I've watched you tie tarps and tents with many different knots, and some without knots. After watching your videos on the one Wind Hammocks I purchased one and have enjoyed it. Still working on getting rid of the calf ridge with my DIY under quilt but that's not what I'm commenting on. Don't know if you have seen this (you probably have) but I put a prusik knot on my tarp guidelines and on the other end I used a Boline knot to connect to the peg. I took pictures but don't know how to send them to you. Thank you for all your helpful advice and enjoy watching.

Hi Blackie. Just an FYI. I have a Better-N-Bens woodstove in my workshop. It was supposed to be the next best thing after a Franklin. It for sure has its place but if cold enough, I'd take either. Happy New Year to ya and can't wait to see what we get in 2023. Gods Peace and Blessings to you and Mrs Blackie. Bear too if you see him.

I was going to mention a fresh air intake to prevent drafts, but you covered that. Just make sure the outside end can't get blocked with snow or ice. Good job!

Hello Blackie- Safety First, People Always- Most important point you mentioned about is proper air flow. Even if someone is using something smaller like a lantern for instance; their still needs to be air flow. This is common since for most, but Im afraid common since is becoming a thing of the past. Have you thought of maybe putting up a sheet of mylar behind the stove when you go to so this? It might help prevent the tent fabric from getting real hot if the stove is close to the tent wall? Cant wait to see this stove in the tent. Thanks again- You and Mrs Blackie have a good and safe New Years.

We had a large space heater when I was young. If it was turned up too high, before I got a headache my eyesight would get "wavey". Just a little dizzy second then return to normal. I would lower the heat and crack a window. So I consider that the first sign of a problem

When people build dug outs or small cabins the best way to bring in air is to run a conduit or 3inch pipe in in at the soffit or eves and run it to the floor so that the air cycles through

You could take a 1-in piece of PVC put it underneath the seal it with leaves around it to where the air would still come in you would have plenty enough air cuz we did it with an Indian type deal over deer hunting

Thanks for all the videos I really enjoy them! Question, I tent camp in the winter and recently started using a buddy heater. I could use some tips for condensation, buildup, and ventilation. Thanks!

Yes, and for extra precautions use a Carbon Monoxide Detector at about waist / knee level when sleeping. Higher if bunkbeds ....use two at different levels. Better safe than sorry. ...Alan in 🇨🇱

Native Americans make the teepee so little to no smoke in the house. The Dakota fire pit was also used in the house..

Long time ago, I was taught to always add the "witcher's holes" to any building or tent that I build. That way the witches and evil spirits can fly out. But in reality it's because of airflow and to allow wolf spiders to live among us going unknoticed helping to keep bugs down. Also, they make firestoves for vans, RVs, and campers. I dont recommend them because of airflow is the biggest thing. Another thing to worry about is hard mud/brick forming in the stove when it rains and forgetting to empty it completely before driving away.

Good information..! I will add.. Chimneys and stove pipes are 2 completely different critters! The only thing they have in common is that it's where the smoke/fumes exit the structure because the physics of how they operate are not the same. Thanks for the video...

I’ve had a wood stove in a house that was vented thru the floor. I never understood the reasoning behind that vent hole until now. That wood stove would run us out it got the house so toasty warm. Thank you for the education.

In my country we have these things that best i can translate to is smoke cabin. Poorer people commonly lived in those i think till the late 19th century, and they sound kinda awful. They didnt even have proper fire place just this sort of thing made out of rocks, and as they put fire on they waited before they opened any sort of ventilation that the cabin/hut was extremely hot. I live in finland and it can be very cold here
