Bringing Life To The Keep! - Hermitcraft 9 | Ep 057

Gem and I decide Grian needs a little extra motivation to finish his base in the form of a TNT dropper on a timer over his base. While we wait to see if he's going to get the job done in time, I begin working on the Dwarven mine and warehouse wing of the keep.

Next season will be another cave base. You don't have to build the back if there isn't one! (and he probably learned his lesson from season 8 and won't try to blow out the back of a mountain to expand the cave...)

Looking at this dwarven fortress what it really needs (especially in any area where forging is done) is a perpetual noteblock tune with bells playing the role of the pepetual sound of hammering.

I think it would be cool if you left some ores in the walls down by the mineshaft. Maybe some coal or lapiz to bring a bit of interest and color. Right now it's a little gray and brown and there's nothing wrong with that but I just think maybe some ores would bring a little something to it.

I did the math for the 24h clock. the hopper clock needs to be full, and the dropper that the comparaetor is pointing out of needs to have 4 stacks and 8 items, although it will be off by 2.5 min.

Impy, you need to make a spot in your base that will be a sort of trophy hall and put Giant Gem and googly Pearl in there. Maybe even duplicates of your pranked statues.

the best part of the tnt over grian's base is how simple the loophole is: obsidian platform below the tnt. or even just water and normal blocks.

idea for something in the deep pit: pipes that appear to be pulling lava up from deep below, going in the direction of the forge wing to be used as a heat source

I actually did something similar with a subway station that youre doing with the caves. One thing that worked in my design was that I had the rails slope down from the dispenser and a 1x1 hole to minimize amount visible behind the opening (on top of the black concrete trick), but in retrospect an upwards slope would theoretically hide more of the rails.

Math is fun. 5 minutes * 9 * 64 == 5 minutes * 3*4 * 3*16 == 5 minutes * 12 * 48 = 1 hour * 48 == 2 days.

Scar messes with docm's tnt cannon, blows it up. Not long after gem blows up impulse's tnt cannon. Scar then tried to shoot grain's tnt duper. Something tells me they need to stop making machines with tnt in them...

Things i learned from my fellow hermits: Scar, Do somthing if you want to complete it. If you can't add life to you build (or life) just add more things to it. Act like a fool , grind like a god. Grian, Gradient. If you're bored just prank friends or do something fun. Never finish your back of your base untill the front is finished. Don't care what happens , just age your copper. Impulse, If you know to build just build , if you know to do redstone just do redstone but legends do both.(definitely not a quote) If you're rich just flex in gold blocks. If someone is lazy or not experienced in doing something just help them. Mumbo k.jumbo, Expansion best for last (mumbo kills a lot of jumbos) If you're sad or bored just irritate others ( especially not iskall) If you know about a thing just blaber but if you don't know about that thing blaber even more. Life is for peasants , death is for legends. Iskall, If they flex they are good in Minecraft show them who the real god is.(over three seasons and friends in the world) If they flex stay silent let the karma do its thing. Is they're flexing ,then flex that you're not flexing. Note: This list is made from my own followings, not to harm any others who are not written (in small other 18 members)

For the minecart tunnels you should make the planks under the rails gradient into darker colours as they go into the darkness. i.e. oak planks to spruce to dark oak

I mean, the back of Grian's base is almost as finished as the front is. He completed the white roman part, but the next tier up of the darker medieval style is about half done all the way around. At the end though, I couldn't take my eyes off what Doc did to Grian's portal.

I think the stone replacement with black concrete fully fixes the cart travel issue and black banners are not required as well as maybe stands out too much because of its lightness

You could add some areas in the mineshaft with villagers who have the Iron trade occupations. They look pretty Dwarven. Just give them beards and then you'll have even more life in your base.

I think the reason they've only added redyeing wool in 1.20 is because of parity- Bedrock's had it for some time, but we don't have redyeing concrete or terracotta either.

From what I could tell, there were 59 blocks left in the dropper. If each one is 5 minutes there was 295 minutes, or just under 5 hours left on the clock.

For the minecarts you could actually put another black concrete block above the rail and then move the banner down a block onto the new block to completely cover the whole. Minecarts can fit though a 1 block gap

That's such a tiny mineshaft for an epic base. Maybe that whole wing could be the mineshaft. Also, I think spruce might be better for the floor than deepslate - a bit too noisy with the brown, yellowish-beige and black.

Maybe you could make some of the minecarts functional? If you had any system that goes across your base, it could go through the mineshafts and make a decorative piece functional. Also, on that note, maybe you could make a minecart go around your base to show it off to others in the style of the mines. It could canonically be the way the dwarfs got around quickly.

Love the base work! I really like the moving minecarts a lot. Can I give you a tip straight from Tango? Instead of banners, you can place item frames, place your handy dandy black map on them and hide the item frame. It’s how Tango made vents in Among Us so the Imposters could see out but the crewmates couldn’t see in!
