Bristol Channel Fishing in the South-west Sea Baits Century Rods Comp.

Fishing in the Bristol Channel is amazing, last time we tried Chesil Beach but the strap congers got the better of us, this time we set out to try and pickup a ray from the Minehead area, so with Butlins in the background we fished the tide out and back in, using Sandeels as bait loaded onto pulley rigs we took on the mighty Bristol Channel tide run so stay tuned to see what happened this time around.

Yes I agree. It is the opposite of what he said. The fact the spots do not go all the way to the edge means it is not a blonde ray

Ah for god sake I thought it was the other way around, thanks lads I it would have been good enough to weigh. Tight line boys will just have to get a bigger one.

@@shorefishingfilms was a nice fish as they do not grow very big. Spots on a blonde are also far smaller and there are usually far more of them. Good video 👍 looks like an ankle breaker of a venue when the tide is up

Alright mate how's it going ? Looks like a ankle breaking mark that mate. Nice wee snotty eel , at least it's a fish mate. Nice to see the kids fishing , I'm actually taking my son fishing tomorrow float fishing for mackerel and pollock. Never caught a small eyed ray before or a blond so well done. I've had plenty of Thornbacks.

Hi, it’s been hard work to catch anything sizeable at the moment, even getting decent bait has been a bit of a struggle, hows it going for you?

@@shorefishingfilms The fishing hasn't been to bad really, plenty of Thornbacks about. Ive been after a hound for ages but I can't get to marks that have them at the moment because of covid. For the bait situation it's been good really. People have been getting big blacks no problem , the only thing that's been hard is getting crab. Just to expensive. I went for a long walk yesterday and found a mark 5 mils from my house. Problem is I don't drive but the walk is easy enough so one day il be there, hopefully to get a hound or conger.

Earl's Fishing Adventures have you ever tried just hardbacks for the hounds?

@@shorefishingfilms just the once , trying to figure out best way to wrap them on. Seen TA fishing video the other day. He shows a way to do it up give that a go next time. But I've been getting like £2 coin size crabs and putting the hook through the back legs and wrapping one side legs to the hook leaving the others free. But when I tried that I wasn't on the right mark really

That is a a Spotted ray for sure. Definitely not a blonde ray.

@@shorefishingfilmsI learned this year's ago as a junior angler when the guys weighing in the fish disqualified a fish I weighted in, claiming it was a Blonde ray which needed to be 450mm across the wings. The fish was in fact a Spotted ray which only needed to be 300mm. I even showed them in a book the difference but nobody would take the side of a mere kid. I was so mad and it still bothers me to this day 😂. Tight lines to you too and I will hit the notification button so I can check out your next video 👍

Hi yes it certainly is, just a tip we seem to be catching more on bluey wrapped with squid so it looks like a big sandeel if that helps ok, let us know how you get on 👍

Thanks for the comment, i normally pop there for some cod in the winter but not so much in the bay but last time was really snaggy after that year of the storms, you had much luck lately? I would love one of those big blondes

@@shorefishingfilms hi kevin , i normally fish just past the white mark there is a sandy bay last time i was there all i had was little thornys and a few straps , ive been fishing with the wife and kids for a few weeks now so only fished the high tides not much about . so been down the south coast stocking up on bait lol . take care mate
