If you google "eagle cam" you will get options of different places around the country that track eagles. The cam nearest to me is "The Decorah Cam". They have a cam in a nest. They won't be back until sometime in March or April, but we get to see their eggs hatch twice per year.

When I was a kid (in the 60s, 70s, 80s), you would never have seen a bald eagle. The very first time I saw one in the wild was probably early 90s in rural Oklahoma near a river dam. Now, you will definitely see them often. But sighting one is always exciting and awe-inspiring!!! They are huge and so beautiful. When I was in Alaska about 5-6 years ago, there were Bald eagles everywhere.

They were never in real danger of extinction. They were, however, killed and poisoned by farmers and ranchers in much of the lower 48. Local populations were almost wiped out in places like Florida, much of the eastern US and the plains states. Decent populations remained in much of the Rocky Mountain states and the mountains of the Pacific coast. There was always thriving populations in Western Canada and Alaska. In parts of Alaska they were as thick as pigeons in Central Park.

They are all over the Kenai Peninsula here in Alaska. We see them constantly. There is a large nest high up in an old cottonwood down the road from my property. I absolutely LOVE them. I love seeing the parents flying with their juveniles, they are very attentive.

Bald eagles are making a comeback. In Kentucky, the lakes region began their increase. Now their territory is spreading wider farther from large bodies of water into agricultural areas.

Growing up, I knew the bald eagle was on the endangered list but I don’t think I actually realized how close it was. Even at that time, it was still pretty low, looks like about 10-15k…which is still very low and I understand why it was such a big deal. This whole time it’s been ingrained in my head that we need to take extreme care of bald eagles. That’s probably why I’m still at awe every time I see one. We should still treat them like they are endangered because they are a national treasure. Thank you for doing this video!

There are a lot of bald eagles in Florida. We live in a retirement community with acres of woodlands, ponds and swamps. It's home to a number of bald eagles. They are a sight to behold..really large, imposing and downright beautiful. The community is on a very busy roadway. One handsome fellow can often be spotted sitting high atop an enormous highway light pole. He seems to enjoy the view, watching the traffic speed past.

Hello from Minnesota! I live within the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul suburbs). I usually see a bald eagle 1-2 times a year. No matter how often you see them, its still a sight to behold. They gravitate to bodies of water and tallest trees in an area. In Wabasha, Minnesota there is the National Eagle Center where you can see them up close (couple feet away) and learn about them. They have a few that were hurt and since they cannot be release back into the wild the eagles have become ambassadors. Wabasha gets a large number of nesting eagles in their area. You can see a lot of bald eagles flying around near the Eagle Ctr. I believe they have nest cams as well. Bald Eagles to don't get their signature white feathers (actually more cream in color) until they have matured into adulthood. They are all brown when young and slowly their feathers change. Their talons are nearly 2 inches in length and if they so chose to, could easily snap the bone in half of an 6ft adult male man. Those feet have have remarkable strength within their grip. I have seen them take rabbits for dinner. Any animal of similar size would be fair game, but their preference is fish. They are large beautiful eagles. When you visit the states one day see if there is an eagle center in the area -- they are truly something to see up close and in person!

Where I live in Maine, seeing a Bald Eagle is rare enough to generate some excitement if you spot one, but not so much that seeing one is considered out of the ordinary. I live near a lake, and a Bald Eagle has a nest in one of the trees lining the water. One time I saw the eagle swoop down and snatch a fish out of the water. It was really cool.🦅

I grew up in South Florida during the 60's and 70's. We used to always see bald eagle nests in the Everglades and in the Florida Keys. They were pretty common. There is an island in Florida Bay called Nest Key (named for the bald eagle nests in the cypress trees on the island) that had a natural white crescent beach and crystal clear shallow water. We would go water skiing and swimming there and would picnic on the beach. We rarely saw more than 1 or 2 other boats there, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. There were no porta potties, charcoal grills or garbage cans on the beach. And yet, it was always pristine - no one ever left any garbage on the beach, and if you had to pee, you just peed in the ocean, lol. Eventually the island became a part of Everglades National Park, and we had to quit water skiing when the park rangers came by and told us we were bothering the eagles with the boat noise. But we were still allowed to picnic and swim there. I went back in 2016, and sadly, the beach was gone, completely eroded away. The eagles, however, are still there.

We have tons of them in Iowa now thanks to some breeding and protection laws, and actually even departments that track the pairs (as they mate for life), and you can even watch some nest cams live. Yup. When I was a kid in the 60's, they were fairly rare. We still had them here in Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes) but after the DDT ban, they came back like crazy. I see them all the time flying over my hayfields, when out on the lakes fishing, or on the side of the road after a deer has been hit. They are great fishers, but also are confirmed scavengers like vultures.

It really depends on the area you are at, my hometown is surrounded by wildlife, with a major river, at least 2 lakes close by and mountains surrounding the valley we are at. For the most part we’ve had the luck of one of our local tourist hotspots be a prime spot for eagles to return to nest and had plenty of experiences of hatchlings in that nest. The name Liberty seems to be a common name to call the mothers, Independence too. My one personal experience of experiencing the eagle in the wild as I live on private property, while I want tending to my yard, an eagle flew over and it looks like it caught a fish in a nearby creek. It just confirmed how epic and majestic those birds are. Truly magnificent. One of my favorite bald eagle videos is the ones that gave visited this one lady in Alaska, just always greeting her on her porch rail like they are part of the family. I can’t remember why but I think she helped one of them at some point but those eagles seem to like to visit her.

I live in Minneapolis, and while we have bald eagles year round here, this time of year is amazing. Because the Mississippi River doesn’t freeze over, the eagles converge in a small area for easy fishing. Red Wing MN to Wabasha MN is routinely swamped with hundreds of bald eagles. It’s so much fun to grab the camera and drive down to catch photos filled with perched and flying bald eagles.

As a child, they were endangered, I lived near a river and was always amazed to see them circling above high on a very clear day… but now they are quite common. I had a nest in our yard, along the same river (about 30 miles north of where I grew up) They never cease to awe me. They are VERY large, and it’s intimidating when they soar over you and you are shadowed like a jetliner just went over lol Their cry isn’t always what Lawrence shows lol, I’ve videoed shrilling calls. They mate for life and return to the same nest each year, we’ve had between 1-4 eaglets each year. They aren’t great housekeepers and just keep building on to their nest each year, it’s amazing watching them swoop to a tree and rip off a branch, and fly off without missing a beat. A couple of years ago, the branch in the tree couldn’t support the weight of the 12 year old nest and 1/2 of it fell, the young eaglet fell out. 😢 We contacted Encon, who said if we could get a drone up there to see if there was another eaglet, they could rebuild it and save the baby. We had our local Fire Department ready with their ladder truck, but it was empty ☹️ They abandoned this nest for the rest of the year, but came back to rebuild, like the Officer told us they would and are thriving still. They are still protected, and messing with a nest is illegal. It’s also Federally illegal to pick up a keep any feathers 🪶.

We have a pair of bald eagles raise up a clutch of young for years on our pond. It's a 500 acre pond on the Coastal Plain region of Georgia. They have been here for over a decade. When the eagles leave, a pair of ospreys take over the nest to raise their young. Our pond is rich with wildlife. The best place to view bald eagles in the United States is at the Skagit (Skajit) River bald eagle natural preserve in Skagit county in Washington State, eagles from all over Alaska and Canada migrate there in the winter to feed on the salmon runs, it is 9000 acres of protected bald eagle habitat, along with an interpretive center in one of the most beautiful places in America which is North Cascades National Park, you can see hundreds, the place is filthy with them at times, and yes it's not uncommon to see one just being outside even in Seattle. There are Skagit River eagle videos on KZbin, I recommend one called The Bald Eagles of Washington from the Evergreen Wilderness channel. Fun fact: Benjamin Franklin wanted our national bird to be the wild turkey.

0:53 The abundance does vary by region. The Southwest and Appalachian regions don’t see them nearly as much and even in places where they are around they’re much more common if you’re near lakes or large rivers. But yeah, in much of America you can see them randomly fly by, though they’re not the most common bird of prey in most places by any means.

One of the best things that came out of the pandemic for my city (Salem, Oregon) is because we didn't have our fireworks over the river those two years it attracted a pair of bald eagles to nest in the park across the river from the city. Due to their nesting they moved the firework show to the fairgrounds (better place for it imo, situated for parking and hosting large crowds) and doing so they didn't scare off the eagles. But yes my home is near the boating launch of the Willamette (the river) which converges into one at that boating launch and continues northwards. But if I walk down there and play in the grass you can see the fly.

I grew up in the Northern California foothills and never saw a wild bald eagle until I moved to the deserts of St George, Utah. I had no idea there could be enough fish around here to sustain them.

The movie sound we closely associate with the sound of an Eagle is actually a Red Tailed Hawk. So while the Eagles is the Face of America the Red Tailed Hawk is the Voice of it.

I have lived in the state of Maine all my life, Bald Eagles are a common site here. Don’t be fooled by how odd their calls sound, the call of an eagle can be heard from miles around and if you’re too close they’ll even hurt your ears. Due to my crippling fishing addiction, I’ve been able to get VERY close to them a few times and they are MUCH bigger than they are made out to be. A male bald eagle has a wingspan of 6-7 feet, but the females might as well be dragons because their wings are usually twice that size, they are so big that they shake entire trees when taking off and landing. Also, Bald Eagles have become so accustom to humans In my area, that several eagles will often gather around fishermen in the winter in order to get a free meal. Personally I have had a record of 7 eagles at once sitting on the ice with me waiting for me to catch food for them.

I live in N Central Florida, around Ocala, and I have a pair of Bald Eagles that stop by our property every year as they migrate. They are only here for a couple of days each way, just long enough to fill themselves up on field mice I suspect. They are gorgeous birds and it's really cool to watch them do their thing.

They're all over but aren't always seen. My sister lives in Idaho and the river near where she lives has several bald eagles. They make HUGE nests in tall trees along the river.

When fishing in maine every yr see many of them. Even had a few of them follow us on the lake waiting for us to catch something thinking to get an easy meal. Yes I did have one grab my salmon as I was reeling it in. Beautiful birds

You didn't used to see the Bald Eagle much outside of the Rocky Mountains as they almost went extinct. However in the last 10 years they have resurged in population. The Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in Seneca County, NY is the easiest place to spot one in NY being at the north end of Cayuga Lake near Seneca Falls the ispiration for Bedford Falls of Its A Wonderful Life, exists mostly as a safe place for the Bald Eagle. They have expanded their territory and there are now about 5 pairs or more within 20 miles of my house. In the area of the Montezuma NWR the large structures that carry high tension power lines have an eagle nest on every single one.

Where I live I don't see too many bald eagles. Some years ago, I have pics of 2 or 3 that were flying around our neighborhood, but the only real big bird of prey we see are hawks, Cooper's Hawiks.. Red Tail Hawks. One rainy day in Portland, OR, my friend and I were walking on the waterfront about to head home and we saw people staring up in a tree and it was a Bald Eagle! OMG IT was there enough to get some great pictures. So unusual I guess in that area. Majestic, Yes.I was in Awe.

They are not frequently sighted everywhere. That said, they are present in Michigan and there are Bald Eagles where I spend months camping so frequent sightings are enjoyable moments of my summer.

The bald eagle was chosen to represent the United States as the native version of the eagle of Republican Rome. Benjamin Franklin didn't think it good enough (he considered it not much better than a scavenger) and proposed the wild turkey instead. We dodged a bullet there!

1:01 I've e seen them in Wisconsin. One landed on the side of the road when i was heading north to Minocqua,Wi - i head to veer off to not hit their wing. The caught dinner... Looked like a weasel ish or something. Almost had a heart attack... Amazing how big there wing span is. Definitely the most up close ive seen them. Usually i see them flying or in trees by Rivers.

As the video says, they live near water and eat mainly fish so if you spend any time in swamps, on lakes or near the seacoast, yes, you see them flying around and even more often can spot their nests.

Was born in the early 90s and I didn’t see my first wild eagle until maybe 2012, as the years go on though, they’ve become more common if you know where to look. Saw 2 today funny enough (adult and an adolescent). Lower NY

Bald eagles live near water, within a good flight. They are local many places, but they need space. I see them fly around Annapolis, MD, and Washington, DC. They have nest cams to watch the next generation.

He didn’t mention it in the video when discussing the sound, but almost always in videos when they show the Bald Eagle they usually play the call of the Red-tailed Hawk as that bird has a more intimidating screech rather than sounding like a chicken.
