I was driving through Louisiana back to Houston once and was crossing a loooong bridge across a swamp (not the lake pontchartrain bridge) and I was beating myself up panicking and thinking I shoulda gotten gas before I got on the bridge because I was running low, so I was worried! I finally made it off the bridge and there was an old wooden sign leaning against a tree saying “Gas” with an arrow. Took the dirt road and after a mile or so there was actually a gas station! It was like a mom and pop station, like Bob’s gas. Went inside to pay and it was only the owner and his wife in there. And the smell was amazing! They had homemade boudin and seafood gumbo cooking and ready to eat. I sat at the counter eating amazing Cajun food and talking to the couple, who had the coolest accents, for about an hour like we were old friends! Definitely not a buc-ees experience, but my best memory of gas station food!

Took one sip and turned around to an employee asking if I got it from the left one and she apologized saying the hot water intake tube for that one just broke and she needed to grab a sign for it. she switched it out for me instantly. No that food and snacks only probably cost them about $75 - $100 or so. Josh probably bought a few things for his new baby girl. Ollie might've gotten something for his daughter as well. Yes, jerky can be healthy. It is high in sodium but it's a good source of protein, is a low fat food and a good source of vitamins and minerals. The high sodium means to eat in moderation but turkey jerky is an even healthier providing more protein, low in fat and calories and because it's turkey better for your heart health than beef jerky.

a little late posting this comment but Pecans grow from a tree that we call a Pecan Tree in the states. When the nuts are ripe they fall from the outer shell and onto the ground where we spend hours picking them from the ground. Underneath the outer shell is the actual shell of the nut that we crack to eat the pecan nut itself. The pecan shell can be easily cracked with very little pressure (I like to take two pecans and use them to crack each other in my hand). While most people would probably rinse the dirt off after cracking, I personally just eat them right after I crack them. Overall, Pecans are simply amazing but I avoid Pecan Pie b/c it's way too sweet for my liking.

We go to Buc-ee's every few months just to eat. We get our hot food and snacks to bring home. We usually limit ourselves to $100. Without merch, you can easily spend a few hundred dollars in there. That Big Buckin Sandwich is like $13 alone, and their jerky averages around $20 a pound. Granted, if we get the Big Buckin Sandwich, we share it because it is huge. They have several salsas in jars that I like that average $10 a jar. When you are buying multiple things, even the inexpensive stuff, it adds up quickly. As far as gas stations/convenience stores in general. In Texas and Louisiana, there are quite a few gas stations that have actual sit down restaurants. I mean you sit down, there are waiters, you order off a menu, etc.

Jerky was invented in 1550 by the Quecga Indian Tribe (originally part of the Incas) in South America. It was a way to preserve meat. The practice was widely adopted by the Western Settlers/Pioneers in the United States as they drove their wagon trains across the wilderness. Curing meat entails drying it out by hanging it in a barn and some other processes are involved as well, I think, but that's the gist of it. My favorite flavor of Jerky is Sweet Teriyaki. There's a couple others I like as well, but I can't recall right off hand. Jerky is sold as you see there in strips or chunks, and shredded. That the shredded usually comes in a round plastic container like chewing tobacco would. And the thing is, you'd take a pinch of shredded jerky and you'd put it in your lip like you would tobacco, so that you could get that same effect you do from doing chewing tobacco.

Most gas stations make the bulk of their profit inside the store, snacks, soda, coffee. Local butcher makes amazing beef jerky, like $18.00 a pound

I've been to Bucc-ee's countless times. I've gotten gas ONCE. Lol. That's why jerky is so good! I call it meat chewing gum because once you've chewed it for a little while your saliva rehydrates it slightly and the flavors get better and better and jerky is very healthy! Aside from the sodium it's just pure protein! Can't beat that!

I've been to that same Buc-ee's. I got gas there when driving back home. They have an entire wall of just jerky. They also have a fresh deli that has freshly made jerky with like 200 flavors of the best jerky you'll ever have.

They were taste-testing the chopped BBQ Brisket. You can eat well at Buc-ees for $20 per person. The beaver nuggets are interesting: They are incredibly sweet, and taste a bit like the cereal Corn Pops with a crunchy sugary maple-ish coating. I say they're too sweet, but about twice a year I will f*** up a bag of them over the course of a couple days.

I live in San Antonio and every time we go to Austin or Houston we make a Buccees stop. I've never gotten gas there. Just drinks and snacks and bathroom break.

The lady they were talking to that told them that she lived in stains for 3 years was putting meat samples in the cups that you later saw them eat out of. It wasn't pralines. The jerky they said tasted like a vape cloud was a cherry maple one. Not the turkey jerky.

Buc-ees is not a gas station. It’s a retail store that sells gas. The one they are visiting has cars waiting on the highway to get in. It’s crazy! 😂

16:38 What Josh said about this jerky being "Relatively Healthy," he was referring to the fact that it's made from turkey meat instead of beef, and also that it's easier to chew in comparison to the beef jerky despite the thickness. Which BTW is due to turkey being a more delicate meat than beef
