Another comedian whom you should check out too (Fluffy aka Gabriel Iglesias), did a show in Saudi Arabia once. He was told that he was their 2nd favorite comedian in Saudia Arabia, right behind Jeff Dunham, and their favorite puppet was Achmed, the dead terrorist. True story.

Achmed's part on the Very Special Christmas Special was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Jeff Dunham was intentionally trying to do something to get the guitar player to bust out laughing before the song. There was a part where Jeff mistakenly combined two words and the result had me on the floor gasping for air I was laughing so hard.

I saw Jeff Dunham at my local arena in 2010. Achmeds legs kept falling off the box. Jeff had to get the gutar guy to tape them onto it. I laughed so hard during that show that my jaw hurt and surprised I didn't pee myself.

You should see the “All Over the Map” series of videos. They have each of the characters in various locations on Jeff’s world tour. Achmed in Israel is hilarious. The “tweeks” Jeff has to do with Achmed in one Muslim country not to offend the government are outrageous. The people there loved the character, but the government had put restrictions because they thought he was offensive to Muslims.

Jeff Dunham also has a skit he performs with two other characters - Peanut and José Jalapeño (on a stick) - where they're arguing in Spanish and Jeff ends it by telling them both to stop, because he doesn't understand Spanish...as he's holding a character in each hand, and they both react by looking at him, then looking back at each other, then looking at the audience as if to say, "Huh? What the heck?!?"

Strangely enough, Achmed the Dead Terrorist is a popular character in the middle east. Muslims will get very angry if you joke about their religion, but that doesn't seem to apply to Jeff Dunham making fun of extremists.

Fact is that Jeff has performed in India and other majority Muslim nations and he's brought out Achmed and they love him. They completely understand he's overblowing the stereotypes and they have a great sense of humor. Of course there will be those who are uncomfortable or offended by it, but then again, they'll be offended by everything anyone does. But to clarify, he does have a fairly good fandom in the Middle East. You can watch Gabriel Iglesias's Aloha special to find that out.

Pretty sure the rib thing was unintentional, it's not the first time Achmed's puppet has gone awry on stage. I can't remember which one but in one of his early special there was an extended leg malfunction. Jeff's very good at improv though, so both mistakes ended up being hilarious in the end. On that note if you wanna see someone who's truly masterful in stage improv check out a guy by the name of Drew Lynch. I don't wanna spoil anything, his comedy's good on its own, but the clips of his on his channel of random audience interactions is comedy gold!

You need to watch British ventriliquist Nina Conti. She uses human beings as her puppets and has had as many as 6 people on stage with her, each with their own voices, each interacting with everyone. Pure ad libs. Her regular routines with Monkey are clever as well.

I haven't watched anything from this guy for awhile so I'm likely to be laughing with you. But Jeff is very funny and very talented. When you finish watching him if you like ventriloquism go look up Darci from America's Got Talent and watch her entire season when she won. She's also very amazing.
