@@haventthoughtofanameyet6364I mean it comes down to numbers.. America has 300k or so personnel in its Navy, we have about 30k... Americas population as a whole is what 330 million people? UK is about a 5th the size of that at about 68 million citizens. Now, the UK geographically as well is absolutely tiny in comparison to the USA. That means more resources than us. Its just a numbers game. No point in building what the USA has if we don't have the man power or economy to use or maintain it right? Thats just dumb. That said, what we do have is some of the most powerful and advanced equipment in the world, most of which we collaborated w the USA on. Its just comes down to population in this situation in my opinion.

You have to look at history to understand why the security agreements are in place. First we have to think of what the world was like in the 19th century. It was a century of empires and colony building. Winner takes all. At the end of WW2 every economy in Europe was in shambles as was Asia. The US could have imposed a Pax Americana and become a global empire as it was the only functioning economy not affected by the war. But history proved this to be futile as it builds resentment. The US also realized that the soviets were a danger. So the US told Europe and Japan we will 1. Give you access to our economy 2. Provide safe shipping lanes for trade 3. Allow you to use our currency All in exchange for an agreement that the US has the right to write all security arrangements for all member countries and thar includes going to war when the US says so. Those powers realized that this was a great deal and signed up. None of them believed that the US was serious So when the Suez Canal crisis occurrd and France and Engladn tried to get involved, the US told them both to get fucked and go.home. England and France then realized that the US was serious about the security guarantee. England realized they had to become allies and got tied to the hip. France learned not to trust the US and keep them at arms length. Once Obama asked Europe to help in Iraq, they said no. This ushered in Trumpism which was telling NATO that he no longer wanted to be tied at the hip with them and why Americans started agreeing. This explains the split in US with helping Ukraine. One side sees the danger to Europe and potential involvement of US. The other says they don't care about Europe and they can deal with Russia on their own. Biden believes in NATO-> provide relief Trump doesn't-> no relief.

In terms of sheer lethality yes modern day America is significantly stronger than the British Empire at its peak, obviously. But I actually think there's much more to it if we were to compare relative strength for the time period. Back then if the British Empire really wanted to it could've wiped a lot of countries off the map without causing a global crisis, crippling the world economy or escalating it into an Armageddon style war where as realistically the US would harm itself more if it tried today due to the nature of our world. America's age of military domination has almost entirely existed in the nuclear weapons era. So it never had the chance to annex entire nations like humans have for all history, everything is too well connected now.

Germany wasn't a thing yet so get fucked. :P (Love it.) Austria and France were the primary threats, with Prussia giving way to Poland and Germany. Russia was doing Russian things, and Britain decided to launch the Opium Wars against the Qing Empire, aka "China". And America was all about that Manifest Destiny stuff against my peoples homeland of Cherokee (no hard feelings. ;P lawls. So many bloodlines in me.) The actual problem here is that the British.. Tended to get fucked in a lot of campaigns during the 16th to 18th centuries, embedding itself in prolonged wars and campaigns in a bid to become an economic superpower. Which was going well for them right up until it didn't. ;) WWII is another fascinating time for British history as well. It would be a bit hard to imagine after almost 80 years. The money going into the US military budget has not developed a way to counter the countries absolute biggest threat, Mutually Assured Destruction... I can presume this has been thought of and has to do with those spaceplanes you may have heard being talked about awhile back and never heard another thing about again. Around the same time the military's laser system was being brought to plan. It would make sense this spaceplane is equipped with a nuclear power source as they did a test with it in space that lasted over a year. Possibly even a military classified fusion source, that's more far-fetched but not impossible, im sure if the military developed one they would not want to share it with any other country as that would make that country hundreds of times more powerful. There would need to be a system of these planes setup in "orbit" at any given time and with those lasers equipped onboard and an array of mirrors with advanced multi-tracking and with no atmospheric refraction to dull and spread the beams. Each ship could vaporize an enormous amount of warheads that leave the atmosphere at a moments notice, could also disable the satellites that guide the warheads. As there were laws put into place to prevent weapons being put into a stationary orbit around earth from any country. The US has mostly likely found a loophole using varying inclination planes during orbit and being able to land at anytime.

@@cheezedoodle8356 I imagine that there is some sort of defense against it. It is just not something that the US would release details on to prevent russia and others from finding ways around it. They have been talking about USA's defense ability against stratigic missles and stuff for years but never state any tech that isn't already known like Aegis and Patriot batteries. I honestly belive they are just playing stupid when it comes to what we really have. When you see things like the new Gerald Ford carrier with its laser tech it's kind of hard to think that this isn't implemented elsewhere. Take things like Starlink for example. These satalites form a mesh network over the whole globe and comunicate by laser. That means that there is not a single area on the globe that cant be hit with a laser by one of these satalites. What would happen if there was a way to burst the output wattage of said laser for short bursts to take out targets like Planes, missles, warheads and ground assets that are located or tracked in any position from ground to space? Basically a mesh network of defense satalites that can communicate, spy, and destroy any coming threat in a moments notice anywhere on or off the planet. Same reason why the US has no decent hypersonic missle program. They have probably realized that rockets for weapons is antiquated tech, expensive, and vulnerable to more modern discoveries. What good are your 1000 mile range hyper sonic missles when someone could destroy your plane, ship, or weapon from anywhere on the planet with no warning and whenever they wanted? Like china with its ballistic missle force that could theorectically destroy any US assets as far away as Guam. Then your whole contry just gets blasted from orbit like a ant under a magnifying glass with no counter or defense against it and no assets lost on the attackers part.

I don’t think we’ve done anything “bad” in our past. You can’t judge history through a modern lens. Was slavery reprehensible? Sure, by todays standards. But at the time, it was commonplace, all over the world, and wasn’t thought of twice. Once we stepped back and looked at it objectively, we stopped it immediately, and those who didn’t, were forced to via a full on civil war. Throughout history, we have always lived as a nation that would ask ourselves, is this the right thing to do? And if we said “no” (which was an answer that incurred some serious soul searching) we fixed that shit. We always have. And when too many people protested, (like these current fu*king assholes who don’t think Israel should be allowed to get sick of other countries killing their people for free, especially after they supply them with water and power for free, , we will find another reason to do the right thing, and do the right thing. I have fought for the US since 87, and only recently retired in ‘17, and when I felt we were doing something wrong, I didn’t do it. And I still made Sergeant Major. The US is the planets moral compass as far as I am concerned. If we back down from doing something, rest assured, someone put themselves in the victims shoes, and said “screw that.”

As far back as you see people justifying slavery you find people arguing against it. "I am Spartacus!" isn't a woke 20th century creation. To a lesser but similar degree the dispute between the plebeians and the patricians was a very similar conversation of the plebians saying that had a right to not be turned in to slaves. Move it forward in time and in every cultural generation you will find people espousing that slavery is an abominable evil. Gregory of Nyssa in the middle ages, and keep working your way forward in every time period there was people on the good side of history, and people on the bad. There is a significant difference between US warriors and soldiers from other places. The us trains WARRIORS, in much the same way that historical super powers did. American warriors live and die to wage war. It's their JOB. They have to be superior killers to their adversaries. Many other countries have soldiers. a soldier is simply someone who is under the control of a military, for a particular period of time. The American Warrior is different. They are not only focused toward the obliteration of their adversary. But also offered housing allowances, medical benefits, and employment incentives for themselves and their immediate family. American Warriors are people who wage war for themselves AND the people they love and care about. They are taught that what they are doing protects liberty and human rights. They are not only told that they are elite, but believe it. They honestly feel and know that what they are doing is for a good that outweighs their own agenda. The American Warrior is a force to be reckoned with. I would argue unparalleled. But not because they are American. But because they are conditioned to love and fight for their ethos. America does not train soldiers or sailors or airmen. It trains warriors. Elite fighters who understand and know that they are fighting and dying for something bigger than self.

The rest of the military's job is to give the people who are there what they need to do the job, not take remote command. Other European countries think they have a local command doctrine until they see how the US does it. Some of them aren't ready for it. They'll get in a firefight, call for backup of units, the US responds, and suddenly a low ranking officer is a full fledged field commander. Where to drop ordnance, where to land troops, rescue helicopters and where, anything we need to know about overflights? The US just mobilized over a 1000 troops all told from the different branches, there's another thousand working behind the scenes coordinating it all in supplies and movement, and the poor European officer on the ground is expected to know where to best use it for effect. I am a grandma so you would think that it is unlikely that I would watch all your videos... but you are so funny!... i have been watching your reaction videos for weeks.. and you make me laugh so hard - thanks for the comic relief! You said we would always be allies.. You do realize we fought the British to gain our independence like 250 years ago right? lol However, I HOPE we stay allies.. the British people are awesome. If you are ever heading our way and coming to Tampa Florida my husband and I would love to take you to dinner!

Heck are civilian's are better armed then most countries in the gun department.

Vietnam, Iraq, Afganistan, Somalia, how did they all go?

@@tony1kenobi468militarily it was one sided they were all obliterated and most government capitulated within a few months with most fighting done within the first few weeks. The USA swept across Iraq and Afghanistan military. Even with them being across the world. What we failed at was nation building and thinking are military was built for fighting insurgent which it was not it was meant for large scale war. Same goes for Vietnam. The U.S never had a problem with overthrowing or defeating the other sides military it was alway trying to fight insurgents and nation building like they wanted us there and trying to make them follow our way.

You may not want to hear this, but GB has a weak military. It, as many countries do, rely on the US for protection and only provide supporting assets to the US.

@@claregale9011 Yeah about that health care, maybe stop paying for every foreign tourist/illegal wanting a medical handout and the nhs could take care of actual British subjects and not go totally bankrupt. But no in addition you guys have been giving illegal migrants 4 and 5 star hotel rooms at the uk taxpayer expense. Great priority choice. But you were probably a die hard remainer, i see alot of spending on and pandering to new arrivals to the uk alot less so people that have been there for decades on end.

Short answer is: yes of course, duh The long answer would discuss things like who helps britain, does nato get involved, what does the U.N do about it, etc etc. But if the question is purely a matter of military strength, there is no question, honestly.

I'm glad we're allies. I love the UK. For perspective: - The entire defense budget for the U.S. in 2023 is $816.7 billion, which was approved in December 2022. - The UK allotted just over £51 billion for defense in 2023.

One thing the announcer misunderstands is that we do not need to entrench our forces on islands and move in from there. We have aircraft carriers which are our own floating islands and also moving Target instead of stationary like an island.

Britain is the 5th major military power on earth unfortunately though the US is a larger force than the next 8 combined and that's during peacetime. During wartime the largest economy in all of human history could be martialed and with the precedent of ww2 where 40% the US GDP was devoted to the war effort. That would be more than 13x what it is today. The only real threat to the US military is that it has become such a behemoth that funding just wont be available in a crisis situation a major collapse in the global economy would be the only danger to US hegemony and it is precisely why so much of the US military is devoted and designed for securing and stabilizing global trade.

I don't really think WW2 levels of mobilisation are even possible, at least even remotely sustainable in the current world. The world economy is just too connected and everything relies so much on energy and the internet, which can easily be disrupted.
