Absolute entertainment. I love that in the NHL they just let them do whatever. They can fight, they can bicker, even chirp at the refs... they just go about the game. They understand it's a sport and it's all part of the fun and competition. Baseball you can get thrown out for literally celebrating a play haha.

Idk if you’re familiar with the Sedin brothers, but they’re nearly identical-looking twins. One time Jamal Mayers skated up to one of them and said something like “your brother is the ugliest guy I’ve ever Fuckin’ seen” 🤣

The player at 1:00 minute, Ryan Reaves used to play on the same line as the coach he was trash talking with. They used to be and exciting combo on my St. Louis Blues back in 2013 to 2016.

This is just tip of the iceberg in trash talk in hockey. When the players know there are no mics it gets next level. Even at amateur levels at local rinks it happens lol

Good ole Rat Marchy! We all love to hate the guy. He is chirpy and mouthy which makes him loathsome even more so because he always skitters away before getting clobbered. And this is all made more so (in either direction) based on his skill, talent and ability. And coming from a Habs fan, that has to mean something ha ha ha!

Most NHL trash talk is for fun. Obv sometimes they mean it, especially after a dirty play or something. But a lot of it is just messing with each other. Thats the mental side of the game.

Well at different moments in my life I really enjoyed the rivalry between Boston and Montréal. Unfortunately, Montreal is rebuilding as of now....hopefully they'll try to make the playoffs next year...we'll see. But yeah, Montreal and Boston, is a classic rivalry with some pretty original trash talk and, while people being respectful enough not to fight each other, it's not rare to see a rivalry among both teams' fans. I remember a certain game about 10 years ago where every players on the ice ended up fighting including a young Carey Price and an old Tim Thomas lol.

I'm going to sound a litle bias because I'm Canadian, but a majority of the players in the NHL are Canadian and we're the best at trash-talking. If any player says "Eh, bud?", chances are he's Canadian based on the accent.

the absolute best trash talker on any sport was Esa Tikkanen, his brand was "Tiki Talk" Literal gibberish that had 3-5 languages mixed in to it, but each sentence had something offensive enough in it that everyone on the ice understood it.
