The more you listen to this song, the more addictive it becomes. I love the words. The video absolutely evokes the bleakness of the rain soaked parts of France and Belgium. Or any town that’s ordinary. At one point OralSan says he only left because he was afraid of rusting. He also credits windscreen wipers influencing his free styling and that the rain is in every “phrase” of his music (phrase or sentence”). The words are clever, but you have to dive deep to understand all the references. He is referring to alcohol and getting drunk in that line about Crash Trst Dummies. I wish I could find you a decent translation. Meanwhile, however, if you are still learning this beautiful language, try Professor Skye. He adores Stromae and has an eloquent and deep translation of Stomae’s new single Santé. I think you’ll really enjoy it and also learn a couple of interesting things as well. I’m British, but I started learning French when I was 6 though I’ve been learning Swedish for the past few years so the only thing bringing me back to French is Stromae and some truly great French tv shows like Engrenages (Spiral on British tv). Here is a link to Professor Skye regarding Santé. Hope you enjoy it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipnHmoiLjtSHY9k. Cheers or Santé! Here is the best translation I’ve found so far. Note “slam” means in this instance to get drunk. genius.com/Genius-english-translations-orelsan-la-pluie-feat-stromae-english-translation-lyrics

French is really one of the best languages for rap. Stromae - quand cest Orel-san does know his stuff. Maitre gim would be another good one. All 3 of them iirc in stromaes song avf

Hey Marie, thanks for the suggestions. I'm really starting to appreciate French music more as my comprehension improves, rap is a bit harder to understand because of the slang and cultural references . What is your favourite song by Gims, I'll react to it next 😀

An "advance level" of french would be to listen to Georges Brassens. His use of language is very good and always clever. Try Gare au Gorille if you have time. Or "Les trompettes de la renommée". I was thinking, long time ago to teach french, with one ot these songs, and only that. Each sentence, even each words sometime, can be a full masterclass. 👌👍

This is like me. I knew stromae, but not orelsan, and this song was what got me into his music too. I absolutely love it. If you want more from Orelsan, I recommend Défaite de famille, which was one of the first few songs of his that I listened to (and the video for it is great).

Hey Eleanor, how are you? Thanks for your comment and support. Yeah I really liked la pluie, I look forward to hearing more music from Orelsan 🎵 I will add Dèfaite de famille to my reaction list and I will watch it soon 😁 Are you studying French or did you get into French music?

@@eleanordees that's cool, so you got into French music first and then decided to study it. I'm only a month into studying French and I know I have a long way to go 😂 what is you one bit of advice for me, that can really boost my French?

@@kelvintries9457 really just keep listening to things in french, and writing in french. Spelling, and understanding speech (especially from native speakers) can be difficult, and practicing listening to anything in french and writing in French really helps. Also, if you need vocabulary help ever, I recommend wordreference.com, which is an online dictionary that can go between languages. It's helped me a lot. Keep up the great work!

Hi !!! Super tes vidéos !!! It's really fun and interresting To see a non-french reacts to french scene !!! Stromae and Orelsan are in the top of my playlists, so, if you want to see french songs with nices video-clips... i think that will like : - youthstar / vocabularious (english/french lyrics ) - smokey Joe and the kid / smokid all stars ( english lyrics ) - yoshi D / prohibition ( french lyrics )

Hi, I like that to help you learn French you listen to some songs in french. I would like to recommand you an other song of Orelsan. It's one of my favorite artist and I love "Défaite de famille" but I think it's maybe a song difficult to understand because of the way he raps it and some references. While "Basique" is, in my point of view, easier to understand. Short phrases and if you need the english subtiles they are good. There only one french reference to politics ( FN is the name of a french politic group ). kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJPNnGVsh9ydr7c I hope you enjoy learning French even if it's not an easy language. I know I'm French 😁 Bon courage PS: sorry if my english was not good

Salut Doriane 😀Your English is great and I can completely understand what you have written 👍 I really like Orelsan too, I will definitely do a reaction video to Défaite de famille or Basique soon . Thanks for the suggestions. I'm really enjoying my journey so far, it has been difficult but very enjoyable at the same time. I'm loving the support I'm getting from the French community, it's really inspiring me to continue to learn French 🇫🇷 Do you have any tv series suggestions for me to watch? Merci pour votre soutien, je ferai de mon mieux avec le français 💪 P.S. I have a Stromae reaction video to Peace or Violence coming out at 4pm GMT (5pm CEST)

Hi, if you want to watch some French series I would strongly recommand " Le bureau des légendes ". I never saw it but a lot a people talk to me about "Les Revenants" (The Returned) and Braquo. There is also "10 pour cent" with many big french actors who play themself (it's not about their life, it's a fiction) like Cecile de France. On youtube there is "Le visiteur du futur". (no big budget but really good) If you want to try french humoristic series I would recommand some short series of french television like " Scène de ménage ". Even if for me the best is "Kaamelott" but it can be hard to understand now for you (sometimes fast replica or maybe not so commun vocabulary) and kaamelott humour is lot base on text. Bon visionnage
