The back story to the clip is even more amazing. This is from his second album, he was a one hit wonder with his song 'alors on danse', he had just broken up with some famous lady. He made the video, and we all thought he was suffering from the brake up. That's why the police were so nice to him. It was an enormous boost for his album. He is the master of theatrics and he's lyrics are incredible!

Great vid. One note though, he's Belgian who sings in French. Belgium has 3 official languages, French, Dutch and German

He said that he already knows Stromae's from belgium, and put the french flag on the thumbnail just to say that the artist he is reacting to speaks french :)

And what is the difference between Dutch and German? Idk if that's a dumb question but I always thaught they were the same..
@Nazario17x
@Nazario17x 4 жыл бұрын
LasIvories it’s a completely different language. Dutch is the language commonly spoken in The Netherlands, also in Belgium, only here it’s Flemish which is just a dialect of the same language. Though a small part of Belgium speaks German, and it’s considered one of three official languages, more then 90% of the population doesn’t understand it. Germans also don’t understand Dutch. The reason you think it’s the same is because it may sound similar to you, which is due to the fact both languages come from the same linguistic families, Germanic. Also because you can often read Dutch and Deutsch, which is indeed confusing, but they’re very different.

@@Nazario17x thank you so much, I did my research in between since I didn't have any response and I am french so I learn that I already known the difference between the two (in French) but didn't have the vocabulary in inglish but anyway your comment was still helpful :) have a nice day!

The lyrics are really worth analysing! As with 'Papaoutai', this song has a really great upbeat chorus but with very deep painful lyrics behind it.

I'd say pretty much all of his songs are deep. Tous les Memes is really very deep to. About how everyone has expectations and prejudice about the opposite sex.
@theleongale
@theleongale 3 жыл бұрын
@@HolandaChiquita That's very true actually. I think my comment was a bit misleading. I think I should've used the word 'emotional' or something instead of 'deep' as Tous les memes is actually one of my favourite Stromae songs, both lyrically and musically. I think it's a very clever song. I just wanted to make a distinction between it and Quand c'est, which I feel is a beautifully heartbreaking song.

A little fun fact about this clip : they did this in almost one take, Stromae just walked their without any actors, just civilians like every day, he wasn't famous back then and nobody did know about the song, the reason he could sing as a drunk guy this lyrics so peoples thought he was drunk and sad and scream/ sung just bullshit. Some of them started to recognice them, like police guys, but still they thought he really just standing their drunk to go home or so, all camera crew where some hidden cams some guys took and filmed from out cars turning around and others walking, like they where just civilians over their. Its funny that then after months those peoples realised they where in a movie clip and realised he was actually singing words of the song as a drunk guy, and it became a world famous hit. In some way he is a real music artist that is very rare those days, at least the one that are famous, what i mean by that is : that he composed hes own music and sounds, mostly wrights hes own clips, influenced to create hes own choreographs in dance moves and wrights his own lyrics, so basically he creates his own painting from A to Z. And this clip was filmed in my city, where he is from. Time again to react to him please! Do this one : 'ta fête (Clip Officiel). And dont try to not focus to hard on subtitles, because french word combination creates such different emotions and long definitions to translate to english, can't really translate clear to english. 'Te la faire' or 'Ta Fête' means here more like : Make your a party for you in an unpleasant way, like bulling you or do a payback, punishing you so its a party for one but a disaster for the other.

I understand your logic with it being the French language, but Belgians don't like being called French. They're a completely different country. It's like putting a Britsh flag for a video about the US. It's the same language but that's all.

It's funny how you keep trying to pronounce the French words as if they were Spanish, hahah. It's 'Stow-mah-eh' and 'fohr-mee-da-bl' (no 'eh' at the end). Can't help but point it out as a naive French speaker, never heard someone pronounce that last letter like that, I just find it funny :')
