The first pilgrims that landed in Plymouth Rock in the boat the mayflower they were all religious prisoners they were sent by the British parliament because they were not Catholic so they took all the Christians and they put them on a boat and they had plans on sending them back to where Christopher Columbus was But there was a big storm and that’s when the mayflower landed on Plymouth Rock so all the people that had first came to what we now know, as the United States were actually religious prisoners because the parliament, which were Catholic did not want Christians in Great Britain, because Christians served under the one true lord, which is God, not a king because the king is a false Idol, so when the pilgrims landed at Plymouth rock They started making friends with the Native Americans or Indians and the British parliament found out that the prisoners that they sent over to America were thriving at that time so the parliament goes well. We have to shut that down we have to control them so what we’re gonna do is we’re going to empty our prisons and we’re going to empty our mental institutions, or asylums or whatever you wanna call it and send them over so that’s what they did and when the prisoners landed, back at Plymouth Rock and other locations they started attacking and killing the Native Americans Indians here in the United States, and that’s what brought all the crime into the United States but everybody over here, in the very beginning was God-fearing Christians that were persecuted because of their belief

To explain Ft. McHenry, it was protecting against the British entry into Baltimore, one of the largest cities in the United States at the time. If that fort didn’t fall and the British marched to Baltimore, they would have taken too many casualties to warrant an attack

The original video is filled with inaccuracies, misrepresentations of the truth, and downright lies. Just a few examples of many. Key went to negotiate the release of one prisoner. It was not the full might of the British navy it was about 20 ships. Also the flag was not held up by the dead. There were 4 people killed in the battle. It was most definitely a military fort as it was protecting the harbor and the city of Baltimore. You can read Lieut. Colonel Armistead first hand account to James Monroe online at the Smithsonian Institution. Armistead was the commander of the fort during the battle.

@@JaredF235 well that just goes to show you that people don’t read the amendments to the constitution. You need to go back and read it. It talks about how Fourth of July is to be celebrated with fireworks. It’s a symbol represents the battles and the canon fire that was fired at the patriots of the American army.

As a British American, who's family emigrated to the US in 1977, a month before my 13th birthday, from South Ruislip, Middlesex England, I cry every time I hear that historical true story! After High School I joined the US Army and proudly served the awesome country that chose to adopt me! I will NEVER kneel during our National Anthem, & I will NEVER let our Stars & Stripes touch the ground!! Shevwill always fly high & proud if I have anything to say about it! I do however, still love my ancestral homeland and it's awesome history. I'm British by birth, and American by choice.

As an American and a veteran, I am proud to have served my country. The flag is just a piece of cloth, BUT what the flag stands for is what makes the American people stand out above most other countries. The flag stands for FREEDOM, INDEPENDENCE and JUSTICE FOR ALL. That is what the flag stands for. I will ALWAYS stand for the flag and kneel for the cross. This is why our flag must never hit the ground. Because of all the brave individuals that kept our flag flying at the time. Now America is not the only country that has freedom, but the American people I think value our freedom more than most. The flag is what we, as Americans fight for to keep the freedoms that we have. We as Americans try to help as much as we can towards our fellow country men and women. The freedoms that we have is what makes Americans so proud to be Americans. God Bless the U.S.A. Edit: When watching the video, the men down in the holds of the ships, they could care less about the bombing that was going on, only where was the flag was and was the flag still flying. That alone tells of the way the Americans are still today. Proud to be an American.

@@user-xj8eg5vb9p Actually, there is no evidence that it did not happen. The presumed truth is that the Fort McHenry flag was indeed taken down, but not by enemy action although it did receive damage from the bombardment. In its place on a smaller staff was another flag that was kept erected by brave men, 28 of whom died in the effort. After the bombardment, the large flag was raised once more. Artistic license is allowed and maybe you should not listen to your un-patriotic teachers trying to quash patriotism for America. The flag that took its place was also preserved, although somewhere along the line it was lost. In truth, the actual story is just as inspiring as the enhanced version. The truth is that rabid patriotism is in decline in America. When you have up to 1/3 of military members recommending family not to enlist, when previously it was considered familial tradition to join military service, it is a sign of changing opinions in the nation. Regardless where you stand in the argument of politics, it is hard to argue against the fact that America has become an empire, something that was not intended from its outset, and we have plenty of history to show that empires follow predictable cycles. The golden age is over and the empire is in decline. A real discussion has begun about a national divorce, due to political and moral divisions beginning to widen to a point that you can barely call it a unified culture. America was one of the greatest experiments in freedom ever concocted, and what is born from its transmogrification may be the next great experiment. This does not diminish the history of struggle and determination that created the most powerful civilization on record. If anyone here takes offense to what I say here, thank you. America is about debate, discourse, and coming to a common agreement. Be the change you want in the world, do not hate your brother over 1% of things you vehemently disagree on, instead improve the world together on the 99% you agree on. Do not force your beliefs on others, and do not impede on another’s beliefs as long as they are not forcing them on those who do not want them. Freedom, or something like that.

God I wish I lived in that time. I tear up when I think of how things like patriotism and the national anthem has been weaponized by our politicians and nefarious talking heads on TV to get us regular people to hate each other, to demonize certain groups, all in the effort to raise their own power and control over the people. They should all be ashamed of themselves, pretending to be patriots and pretending to honor the flag when all they honor is themselves, even some going so far as to insult our brave veterans ("He's not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured") but yet these same scumbags are still looked up to by a large swath of brainwashed people. In history class my teacher made us watch Amazing grace (2006) which is a great British show about William Wilberforce fighting to abolish slavery. I just came across your channel and this is the second video I've watched. I must say that your reaction was one of the most genuine I've seen. God bless you man. As an American, your kind words touched my heart. Thank you brother!

I know I asked you to listen to Chris Stapleton already today. But he sang the National Anthem at the last Super Bowl and it was one of best renditions and made grown men cry in the stadium.

The American national anthem always makes me emotional, and has since I was a kid, and I didn't fully understand why until this video. It's not some weird form of overzealous patriotism. It's the fact that 250 years later, I can FEEL the hope, the pride, the pain, and the awe that was written into those words. And it serves the purpose it was supposed to when it was written: to remember those people who sacrificed themselves to keep the flag standing. I didn't know the story until this video. Growing up, I was just told "It's to honor our soldiers" but... Those weren't just soldiers. Most of them were civilians. And that? The thought of someone who had no bindings to their army giving their life for a SYMBOL of an idea, the want for freedom, for better for future generations? THAT is what is what I want to honor. (That does still include soldiers, before anyone gets in a huff.) I no longer find it strange how much we revere our flag. It's true that most countries don't fawn over their flag like we do. I didn't know why we do, either (and I'm sure most of us now, don't.) But knowing this, I respect it a lot more, and I understand why we hold it central to us as a nation. It's just a shame that a lot (I wouldn't be surprised if MOST) of us don't know this about our own country. I don't agree with a lot of what we did as a country throughout our history (or what we're doing now, in a lot of cases,) but knowing our history is so important. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, and your honest reaction. Seeing someone who isn't American also get emotional over our anthem is a beautiful thing. It reinforces the intention of why it was written in the first place. It's not about kings, or presidents, or even soldiers. It's about us. Humanity. People. And I can be proud of that.

Actually this video is a weird form of overzealous patriotism. Look up the actually battle. Battle of Fort McHenry (they even get the name of the fort wrong in the video). The flag never fell. 4 Americans died.

I live near the fort. I have gone many times. After the movie the curtain goes up and they play The Star Spangled Banner. Here in Baltimore during the national anthem we scream O since our hometown Major League Baseball team is the Orioles. It's a Baltimore tradition. I am very proud that it was written in my city! I got to hold the flag from the 1770's which was such a unique thing. I had goosebumps holding it. What an experience!

no, we were were taught this in Americana history. WE have history written from both sides and they are remarkably similar. Americans stand and sing and are filled with pride and covered with goosebumps everytime, every ball game, or ceremony, every Olympic . One of the most emotional times, for me was after 9-11, and the queen had her military band play our song at changing of guard. IT was shown on every news channel for weeks, it felt like love.

I learned this story in first grade. Every morning, the entire school said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and then we sang the National Anthem. Sadly, they no longer do that or teach this story. I am 63 years old. Every time I hear The Star Spangled Banner I get tears. I love our country and our flag. Happy 4th of July!

See in my days of school, we never sang the anthem but we did say the pledge every morning. Even tho the shit going on right now in our country, there is still sense of pride for this country and everything we fought for. And i still stand by that our country is still the greatest country.
