This is so real. I studied in America, I was in the middle of the class and suddenly passed out. The class ran to help me and the professor panicked. The problem is I woke up laughing at how I slipped from my stool to the ground tearing my pants apart. They thought I had a concussion when they saw me laughing and kicking my legs uncontrollably.but the problem is “I was completely and mentally fine, but this is my culture! We laugh all the time”.

Go to Boston. It's like Lisbon but with a lot more portahgees. In fact, even the Americans in some places can connect well with you like in the town of Cambridge where every kid has to spend first grade through eighth grade with one half of his classes taught entirely in Portuguese or in Spanish (which you have the choice of with Mandarin being mandatory for all students). So you graduate with near near native fluency in two languages and eight years of Chinese language classes (not near native fluent since you only have one a day while your Spanish and Portuguese is so developed and fluent you have Math, Science, History, etc. taught entirely in Spanish or Portuguese half the time). Europe has done this for ages and it is one of only two towns in the US I have heard of which cultivate bilingual graduates on the road to trilingualism.

British people can also be rude in their home country, specially if they can't understand what tourists are saying in another language. I once had a drunk young adult angryli shout at me "speak english!" when i was passing by with my friend and we were speaking Polish. I was angry at the time at something else so i was also rude and shouted "I do, now f* off" and proceeded to walk away, not bothering to even look at her, so she started mocking my accent. I'm pretty sure she doesn't know any other language othervise she wouldn't bother with us. Second time was entitled mom in the restaurant, we were eating a meal and mother wasn't paying attention to her kids who were running amock inside and disturbed EVERYONE. Fate wanted that kid proceeded to bother me because I was ignoring him and just eating my pizza (he was around 3/4? I don't know, pretty smal kiddo). When he shoved baloon in my face i asked him if he can walk away from me (all in calm manner, i'm not a monster even if i don't like kids). Mother proceeded then to raise her voice that if i have a problem with her kid i shall talk to her, not him and i'm a bully (which was clear that she had problem with her own kids and just wanted some attention, because she couldn't controll situation with her own kids, so she tried that on the stranger). I really tried to stiffle my laugh and anger and i just answered her that I can start being a bully if she want's and then i returned to eating my pizza, not bothering to look at her and not answering her rant anymore. She was furious and she left restaurant, leaving behind absolute mess at the table that her kids made (cereal were at the table, under the table, chairs... who does that o.o). I'm glad that she at least payed her tab. Servers ended up apologising to me and thanking me for being calm. Poor lads, they couldn't interveen because of bullshit customer service procedures (I used to work at customer service so that was a delicate situation for them) and i'm sure they were stressed more than anyone at the time. To be fair I know fair amount of British people that are just the loveliest people in the world and saints with big hearts ♥♥♥ Also Polish people abroad can be pretty rude to everyone else except other Poles, and fair amount don't bother to learn other language, even basic english sentences. We are more like "yay another countrymen, let's go drink", or we just smile and don't bother... wow that was long, sorry!

I heard the 'speak English' comments from fellow students when I was younger. I'm English but had never even thought about it, but apparently others found it really annoying when a group of people, especially students, were gathered around all speaking their own language. I don't get it myself, knowing the language isn't required to visit a country, if it were then Brits would almost never go abroad.

When I was about 12, I fell off of this new bike I'd gotten (I was alone at the time btw) about half a mile from home.
