His commentary on British schooling in Ghana made me think of my warped US education. My school system in Florida taught English, Latin, Ancient Greek, French, and Spanish as a 2nd language. It was very progressive, even in the 60's. I studied German in college, as well as several computer languages--COBOL, Fortran, SAS, and assembler. It was a post-classical education. Wow I'm only 1 min in and I get it's comedy but that strikes a chord with me... I'm an NZer (New Zealander/Kiwi) but Irish and Scottish. even though New Zealand was a colony of England and all of our things are essentially the British way of doing things, we grew up learning our countries history. Learning all facets of it. The bad and the good. To me that feels wrong to have been brought up not being taught your countrys history (or in the case of Americans, being taught it correctly). It feels like a net loss for the world. One less person to pass that history on. I hope things have changed since then. I know exactly 0 about what is taught in African Schools at any time but i would hope they at least learn their own languages, their own history, and their own traditions...

My friend attended a swedish college in city called kristianstad that was prejudiced. She found it difficult to fit in because of her ethnicity. The preschool program was run by a woman who was authoritarian and aggressive towards her. Because the college administration appeared unconcerned with the problem, my friend found it difficult to voice her worries to them. This woman constantly spies on my friend. This woman hated students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and people of color. This cruel woman didnt like it that person of color can have collage degree because she believed that they were not intelligent enough to earn it. Her discriminatory behavior was a clear example of racism and classism. By forcing my friend to take a challenging test on the teaching profession and threatening to expel her from college if she failed, she attempted to ruin her future. However, my friend decided to take a break and reapply to college at a different institution. This cruel woman set her up with a racist supervisor during her internship. Nobody believed my friend when she said she didn't get aid from the college and instead sided with the cruel woman. The situation was very distressing for my friend, and it affected her mental health. She eventually had to quit collage and seek therapy to deal with the trauma.
