101 block can be hard to get but still a few around. Try ebay or saving old sseagulls.Both silver century are the same

Wonderful tutorial. I removed and cleaned the cylinder channels. However water flow is still restricted in the cylinder behind the inlet port. Attaching a small hose to the inlet at the cylinder, water will not gravity flow. Since there is no access to the bottom of the cylinder, what are my options to clear the obstruction?

Hi, very informative videos. Are you planning on doing one with advice on how to free a seized piston?

G'day Coastal Works - In this video you mention a home made piston press for freeing seized pistons - any chance of getting a couple of photos and a description of that? Or have you got a video that I have missed? I've got a few seized Seagulls I want to save. Cheers :)

I bought a siezed seagull at a classic car show. I freed it off just by using boiling water and patience. I have not taken it apart plenty oil since freeing off. Compression is excellent. I think it siezed due to sitting a long time. I bought it as a curiosity to learn from. I enjoy watching these videos.

It was really siezed took several attempts using boiling water. Jentle pulses on the bar and it broke free. Amazing how robust the Seagull is. I have two now and I don't have a boat lol. Just picked up another last Sunday and had it running for the first time on Monday. Looks the same as yours in that vid. I notice a slight leak on the lower part of the cylinder block and a tiny weep on the crank case when running. I think the block base a reseal with instant gasket and the crank split and refaced mating surface? I am just guessing 😊 baffled by it spluttering under load. Stripped the carb carfully cleaned the tank and plug. Not cleaned the points yet. Great wee motors to work on.

Thank you for these excellent videos! My 40 has stopped water cooling half way through its maiden voyage after 40 years of resting, (rowed home)! I've dropped the exhaust and drive shaft and I've tried blowing up the water pipe and it's quite hard. Should it be easy to blow through?
@barjhealy4 жыл бұрын
There usually is a little resistance , try compressed air down it . I'd suspect the waterways in the block are the issue
@2passfordhousecottages844 жыл бұрын
@@barjhealy Thanks! I'll try that first, worried about snapping a head bolt - but soaking in WD40 and will try the heating method that you demonstrated if the airline doesn't clear the blockage. Water is shooting out from the holes in the shaft housing.
@barjhealy4 жыл бұрын
They running it in a barrel with the prop taken off . It should pump plenty water from the hole in the block
@2passfordhousecottages844 жыл бұрын
@@barjhealy It was good in the Wheelie bin before we set out to sea - the water flow was not very strong, but fair. I soaked the upside down engine with WD40 down the pee hole for a week and the water flow seemed a little better. We got about 10 minutes out to sea and then we noticed the water flow had stopped, and shortly after the engine self protected itself and shut down. Back in the wheelie bin - water was coming out but slowly, Pretty sure there must be a blockage in the water jackets. Luckily, I don't need the prop off - as I have the clutch version. Thank you so much for your help!

Yes water ways in the block most likely the problem . Let me know how it goes for you.

+willie wardrobe more than likely it's the waterways block in the block . I haven't had to replace a impeller yet on at seagull. Thanks for commenting Barry
