Great video. Found the use of the blowtorch very enlightening.

Subscribed, Great Video. I have just obtained a 40 of early 60s vintage, ( I think) it appears to be as dead the DO DO, at the moment, so your videos are turning out to be very useful. I'm a member of our local Canal Restoration society Getting long in the tooth now, so work parties getting a chore. If I can get it working, will let the Society have it, then they can use it or sell it for the Society funds as they wish.

Quick question does the lettering on the head gasket face down on the barrel? cheers

Very nicely done with care and attention. There's only one way to do this and that's the proper way. My Seagull is a 1968 SCPC long shaft. It needs new main bearing(s). I haven't started working on it. Do you happen to have or plan to make a future video on that too?

Robert van der Drift Hi Robert thanks for commenting. those are a great model of seagull you have. I take the videos as I work with each seagull . I haven't any that need the bronze bushes done at the moment but eventually I will be making a video on these . ill send you a link when i have it up.In time over a year or 2 I'll have most aspects of these seagulls covered. thanks again Barry

Brilliant videos thanks a million. I got a seagull running from the carb strip video and also realised that i was running the wrong fuel mix (it had been converted to 25:1). The seagull was running well but the water wasn’t pumping as well as i thought it should so i used the water gallery cleaning video which was excellent put it all back together and it isn’t pumping any water at all now i daresay i have done something to it but is this a common problem with replacing the head cover i used instant gasket. Again many thanks for the brilliant videos they really are the best sour e i have found for trying to rejuvinate this old seagull 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Wouldn`t it be easier to coat the gasket rather than the block ?

Hi just found your site, subscribed, Do you ever put anti seize on the threads of the head bolts? Would that help making them last longer? Then may not need to heat them.

what size head bolts are they and is there any published information on torque on the head bolts? Great videoes - I'm subscribed.

Do the head bolt have a specific torque setting?
@barjhealy3 жыл бұрын
They probably do but I have never used it

@@barjhealy Thanks for your useful videos, they are much appreciated here in Australia. FYI for any one, the torque setting for cylinder head bolts is 18FT/LBS.

I think the head gasket goes the other way up to the way that you have put it on 😂
