Players getting the “call” is the best part of the draft for me. Dreams coming true in an instant

Love that. One of those rare moments when you know your life will never be the same again.

You're not rooting against your favorite team by respecting an opposing player's talents. Part of the joy of being an (American) football fan is embracing your beloved team while also loving players, coaches, strategies, energies, etc...from other teams. Another joy is absolutely roasting them in games and conversation. Awesome video!

What's great about Coach Pete Carroll is that he has an eye for talent where others don't see. He picked Russell Wilson even though he was considered too short for QB. That's how Seattle Seahawks, my home state, are so much fun to watch. They have a great way of getting each other hyped and always give it their all. We were so bad for so many years but since Pete Carroll, it has been a blast. Thank you for posting as I hadn't seen some of this footage.

He is on a rival team, so you kinda don't want to be impressed, but he is amazing. 15:45 running down Budda Baker. It was one of the most amazing plays I've ever seen.

I'm surprised you haven't done a reaction on Randy Moss yet. He was such a phenomenal wide receiver known for amazing catches. To this day when a player makes an amazing catch on another player which looks like it belongs on a poster or a video game, it's called being "Mossed!"

He went 64th because teams thought he was a better athlete than football player. Teams pretty much knew he was stronger and faster than everyone else but didn't think he had the other parts of the game down. Also, to be fair, 64th overall is still not bad. If you're picked in the top 100 picks or so you're considered to be a pretty high draft pick.

He was not a can't-miss prospect. There were concerns that he was just a workout warrior that would struggle to run a variety of different routes. That was legitimate. The few routes he does run? He's very difficult to stop on them.

Another aspect that always gets overlooked is that he was the #2 receiver at Ole Miss: it was (now Titans star) AJ Brown who had all the production there.

You should react to some more draft highlights, like compilations of players getting the call telling them that they’ve been drafted. Really cool moments.

Love DK. I was really excited when my Seahawks drafted him. He is all of that & more. Russell finally has a big, strong target.

dude suffered a fractured neck back in college, thats why most teams were unsure of drafting him too highly.
@theblackbear2113 жыл бұрын
DK had injuries (serious neck) in College that had limited his playing time. He's big, he's fast, he's strong... but many questioned his agility, and his ability to run tight routes.

Just last week DK Metcalf competed in an Olympic prelim trial at 100 meters, and ran a 10.36. Not good enough to qualify for the Olympics, but the Olympic class runners did not embarrass him. There's video of the race.

LoL I just watched a podcast today talking about DK Metcalf Running in a 100 meter dash. He finished last though. 😅

The reason he fell in the draft was because of his neck injury despite all the analysts talking about a limited route tree. It was a severe injury and he never got to play a game after that because of the rehab so drafting him high was a risk most GMs didn't want to take. His 3 cone and shuttle were bad but he did slip in both and that had a lot to do with it. He was much better in his pro day workout with better cleats. Most guys with his skillset don't even do those because bigger lankier receivers do poorly in them. The great Calvin Johnson just came in and ran the 40 and left because he didn't want to lose money in those drills. In the end it might actually be better financially for DK to have fallen to the end of the 2nd round as he will get to negotiate a new contract at the end of his 3rd year instead of the team having a 5th year option like they do on 1st round picks. He could be making $20 mil per year a full 2 years earlier then if he was a 1st round pick.

He had doubters for a couple of reasons. 1.) He had sustained a serious, season-ending injury in college. Regardless of the sport, many players never regain form after that. 2.) There were concerns about his agility. NFL cornerbacks are insanely quick in addition to being fast in a straight line. The combine exercises at which he did poorly are measures of agility and the ability to change direction. 3.) There was a sense that he looked impressive against college competition because he's so physically imposing and fast. Many players with great talent can't cope when the talent level catches up to them. NFL draft spots are precious. The difference between being the 6th overall selection in the first round and the final selection of the second round, is literally millions of dollars. A player like Metcalf, who was overlooked by every team in the league twice, will almost certainly carry resentment for years. He will be motivated to humiliate those teams who choose wide receivers ahead of him.

I think part of the reason he fell in the draft is because it is a much higher percentage play to draft a guy that is quick & can run the relatively easy underneath routes than it is to draft a physical beast as that is a much more difficult way to beat the defense and also requires a QB talented enough to deliver a downfield throw in order to take advantage of those skills even if you have them. When you're talking about tens of millions of dollars at risk, the tendency is to be conservative and take the higher percentage, lower output guys rather than the lower percentage potential superstars, especially if you don't have the other tools already on the team to take advantage of those skills in the relatively unlikely event they actually come to fruition.
