It’s different between understanding and improving accents when it comes to choosing accents. Improving accents doesn’t depend on what kind of accents you get. You can still improve British even if you mostly take American information. (I’m a Japanese who prefers British) But I always enjoy your videos. The thing about British accents is that there is no common accent. Each area has its own accent. It is said there is a new distinctive accent every 20 miles in the UK. I'm originally from England but have lived most of my life in Scotland, so I have a strange hybrid between a Scottish and English accent. Scottish people tend to think I sound more English but English people seem to think I sound more Scottish.

About accents, in Poland, teachers are learning British English (vocabulary, grammar), but they tend to speak with an American accent. I found it really confusing and totally non-professional. The same goes with young people. They know British version of a language, but their pronunciation is closer to the American one. I think it's a more European problem.
