Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom. I will be making a square cake soon and am so glad this showed up. I have one question: I need to make a square box cake that will feed 45-50 people. Do you have any suggestions as to what size cakes and how many to achieve a decent size box. The one you made in the video looks about right but I can't tell how big it is or how many it would feed.

Great question! I used a 9x13 inch pan and I used my Very Vanilla recipe scaled down to a quarter of the recipe: www.britishgirlbakes.com/very-vanilla-cake/ This would serve about 16 people

Putting the cake in the fridge is a great idea! It's much easier to add a thin layer of frosting over a solid buttercream base and then smooth that. How did it go?
