The real NBA record that simply can't be touched is Wilt Chamberlain averaged 48.52 minutes a game in the 1961-62 season. Even if a player was set on breaking it they would still need 9 overtime periods in a season to do so.

I remembered one more that doesn't make sense. In the MLB Barry Bonds had a .6094 OBP in 2004 and will probably never be challenged. Next highest is ... Barry Bonds at .5817 in 2002. There were "official" NBA score keepers at the Wilt Chamberlain 100-point game. ...There was a running back (Dave Hampton) in 1972 who had over 1,000 yards towards the end of the season. He lost yards on a play in his last game of the season and unfortunately, finished the season with less than 1,000 yards. ...The greatest male swimmer before M. Phelps was Mark Spitz.

Nolan Ryan is the most overrated pitcher of all time (cf. Jayson Stark's book). Long before he broke the strikeout record, he set his most unbeatable record - most walks given up. He gave up 2,795 walks, second place is Steve Carlton with 1,833. That means he has walked 50% more hitters than any other pitcher in MLB history. He was a hard thrower who had a career W-L record of slightly above .500. So overrated.

The rushing yards question: Aiden is correct, if you are tackled behind the line of scrimmage on run plays, the RB loses those yardages. Similar with pass plays except for when the ball is intercepted. From there the count stops for QBs (So a pick 6 wouldn’t be negative yards on the QB’s passing yards, but if a pass was completed and went for negative yards it would be).

One that needs to be on this list that might be even harder than DiMaggio's to break: Ted Williams' consecutive games reaching base streak. Only hits, walks, and hit-by-pitch count.
