To me, this “trust over doubt” mantra is the same approach used by cults, many religions, and authoritarian leaders the world over. Thinking for yourself might lead you to ask questions, to doubt the party line! Just stop thinking and trust (believe) what your leader tells you-That is the way to prosperity (or salvation, or belonging). This is a straight-up call for obedience over rational thought and mindless labor over cost-benefit analysis. It also facilitates the “if you don’t prosper, it’s your fault for not thinking right” blaming the victim so beloved of MLMs. In short, it is dangerous and, IMO, malign advice. You’re in a cult. Call your dad.

7:15 Omg reaching out to 200 people in 24 hours is absolutely ridiculous. I do cold emails for my content services, so I know exactly what goes into each one. (And it's not just an email. It's giving value -- usually writing them a blog post to serve as a sample + telling them what they're missing in their blog, so it requires effort and research on my part.) I can do MAYBE 10 a day, and that's if I have everything lined up and my Death Wish Coffee is on point -- and if no clients want to schedule strategy sessions or if I have any other obligations. I typically do 2 a day but make them reeeeeally good. To be fair, she said specifically she's not cold messaging, but she's still following up. I took the liberty of doing the math for us. If we assume she sent all those in the first 24 hours (which sounds like what she's saying), that's 17 people (16.6666) every single hour around the clock. No sleeping, no breaks. 17 messages. That's 3.5 minutes MAXIMUM per message, which includes finding their message, writing it (copy/paste), editing to make sure it's the right name, actually sending it off, task switching to find the next person, etc. There is NO POSSIBLE way to send that many messages WITHOUT copy/pasting (and even WITH copy/paste, I still don't believe it). Absolutely no excuse for that kind of spam. That's unhinged behavior.

I think it's very fascinating the religious undertones that she has in the rhetoric. "Trust" is code for "faith", but the word is specifically chosen as it feels more secular and palatable for a general audience. She "trusts" that all her hard work will pay off - but in no normal job do you have to stress about customers coming in last minute at midnight - these customers are framed like a miracle given to her. In normal business you don't simply "trust" that customers fall into your lap, you use data and research to help inform your decisions, not energy or mindset trainings. Not only does nothing in these stories make it seem like good business, but it's like faith manipulation disguised for a secular audience. The idea that you simply read a book and "trust" your hard work will "pay off" feels like the "just believe in God" from more religious MLMs, but masquerading for a secular downline.

12:05: Pretty sure I read that in a fortune cookie too. To be fair, I've taken courses and been in programs where they've taught me stuff, but it didn't really click til years later. It's pretty easy to get wrapped up in the daily work that I forget the basics, which is why I always try to go back to them. Like for example, of course quality sleep makes a big difference in how we function, but I only just now started taking it seriously and hired someone to help me with sleep performance. After the first really good night of sleep, I was like, "Holy shit, this stuff IS actually important." And I just had a "duh" moment with myself for a bit. 🤣 So there are definitely things I've heard a lot before, but they sound more profound when I hear/read them when I actually need them.
