I believe that the difference we perceive between the two is that Angelina has the ability to emote beyond most artists. Lauren is brilliant, yet Angelina brings this aspect of transferring emotion to the listener which makes it more powerful to many.

That empathy that allows Angelina to convey the emotion is what led her to give her sea green ankleboots to the orphan with scarred feet. That emotionally in her voice is what has kept her fans coming back compulsively all these years. I worried America and its concentration on all things surface would coarsen that. I agree that her tone is close to Angelina's, and needless to say, they both sound incredible in this wonderfully done mashup. Love Britt's reaction and especially her epiphany moment. When I first heard Angelina's version (and somehow not being aware of Lauren's), I quickly found the lyrics to confirm what I was thinking - that it is a Christian song / prayer to God. Such a beautiful, beautiful song. No wonder the YT video has been viewed 297M (!) times, and see it has touched many hearts. God is great in His creation of both Lauren and Angelina. As for the 2 versions - I also at first was having trouble telling their voices apart, at least near the start of the song. Interestingly, I went and found some live versions by Lauren to try to do an apples-to-apples comparison to Angelina's live version - and while still beautiful, they didn't have the Angelina-like richness of tone of Lauren's studio version.

I totally agree about their tones! I didn’t know who Lauren Daigle was until I heard AJ’s version. Lauren is fantastic! Angelina has always been able to convey so much emotion and warmth and with the rasp sounds so much older than her actual age. Can’t say if she believes, but I do know she was blessed with more vocal ability and is driven to perfect it more than any person I’ve ever heard!

What is extraordinary about it is that it comes very naturally to her. Vocally and artistically she is a phenom and what a pleasure it is to listen to her sing for us. The soulfulness within her transitions into the form of love when she sings and that's what touches our hearts. It's 'who she is' that matters most of all. While their tones are similar (Angelina of the thousand voices) their styles are not. Lauren is traditional choral and plays it straight over the top with few embellishments. Beautifully. Angelina brings her sensitive jazz touches, since they come from her soul. When I saw her on the holiday concert, she brought me to tears. I hear Lauren's as a song of worship, Angelina's as a song of longing and thanks. Great reaction.

When I watched Angelina's live virtual Christmas concert in 2021, she was 15, she ended the concert with this amazing song and I cried, for also that God my heavenly father answered my prayer that she would sing it. God is so good 👍. Yes Angelina and her family are Christians ✝️ ❤. They are from the protestant belief non denomination. Kind of like a Jack Hibbs here in the US. Here grandma even painted a painting of Jesus love for us through his sacrifice ❤. They are a very private family and we respect that as her fans. The church they went to in Norway, she would sing in sometimes especially during Christmas. We always keep her and the family in our prayers. For being in these dark and end days, them and the rest of us need God our heavenly father more than anything and that we need to keep that relationship going forward 🙏 ❤. It's funny I prayed that Father God would open this song up as to what it is and then you react to this awesome mash-up and click, you got it. Isn't he so cool and truly good. yes its a contemporary chirstian song. this song won song of the year at the christian music awards in 2019. and also contemporary christian song at the 2019 grammy awards. this song was so popular it was also on the mainstream top 40. it was the top christian song in 2018, 2019 and 2020. which is completely unheard of and it was also the number 1 christian song of the decade.
