@eaglebearer science deniers often harp on about the scientific method requiring things be observable, and make claims about not being able to look at things. What observe means in science is important. You not having a clue about what it means doesn't change that.

I think that the correct response to "it's not a fact is a theory" is not "a theory is a model that has been verified" because frankly this isn't strictly true, Blitz made a vid on this. string theory for example has made no novel experimental predictions. I think instead we should point put that the terms are simply not opposite or in tension at all, they are describing different categories of objects. It'd be like me pointing at a firetruck and saying, that's not a firetruck, it's red. Maybe a good response is "saying it's a theory just indicates it is a model or framework, this one in particular is validated by thousands of empirical facts"

The strength of a scientific theory is related to the diversity of phenomena it can explain and its simplicity. As additional scientific evidence is gathered, a scientific theory may be modified and ultimately rejected if it cannot be made to fit the new findings; in such circumstances, a more accurate theory is then required. Some theories are so well-established that they are unlikely ever to be fundamentally changed (for example, scientific theories such as evolution, heliocentric theory, cell theory, theory of plate tectonics, germ theory of disease, etc.). In certain cases, a scientific theory or scientific law that fails to fit all data can still be useful (due to its simplicity) as an approximation under specific conditions. An example is Newton's laws of motion, which are a highly accurate approximation to special relativity at velocities that are small relative to the speed of light. Theories are substantiated by facts.

Dwarf planets are still -planets- Stellar Bodies.*
@doranku

@@louseveryann2181 *: IAU has this to say: "The definition of a dwarf planet The 2006 IAU Resolution means that the Solar System officially consists of eight planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. In the same resolution, a new distinct class of objects, called dwarf planets, was also defined. A dwarf planet is an object in orbit around the Sun that is large enough to pull itself into a nearly round shape but has not been able to clear its orbit of debris. Generally, dwarf planets are smaller than Mercury. A dwarf planet may also orbit in a zone that has many other objects in it. For example, an object within the asteroid belt is in a zone with many other objects that are all about the same size. Pluto now falls into the dwarf planet category because it resides within a zone of other objects that might cross its orbital path, known as the Trans-Neptunian region. Pluto is additionally recognised as an important prototype of a new class of Trans-Neptunian Objects: plutoids. Defining this class of objects helps astronomers distinguish different types of dwarf planets in our Solar System. The term small Solar System body was introduced along with dwarf planet in the 2006 IAU General Assembly resolution. This is a term to encompass all objects orbiting the Sun that are too small (that is, not sufficiently massive) to satisfy the definition of a planet or dwarf planet. Dwarf planets in our Solar System Aside from Pluto, there are four currently recognised dwarf planets in our Solar System: Ceres, Haumea, Makemake and Eris."

Dude kind of lost as soon as he started talking about his understanding of sex and gender, and how he just disregards all opinions on the subject based on his FEELINGS. Yes, people have been wrong in the past, yes sometimes the "mainstream" or popular opinion is incorrect, but as it is today, what we know about sex and gender is based on corroborated evidence from people who specialize in their respective fields. 500 years ago people believed in natural philosophy, people believed in alchemy, people did not specialize. People were still trying to work out what can be naturalistically observable and what was just imagination. Peer review studies did not exist, it was largely just people making claims using rhetoric and biased inference in a time when evidence wasn't scrutinized like it is today.
