JD hit the nail on the head so hard. The only moves I haven't liked about Grier have been his coaching choices. Even worse than Quinn, the AHL coach needs to be focused on as well, for all the development.

I miss Jason Demers as a Shark. I still recall the disappointment I felt when he was traded to Dallas. I hope the Sharks will find a place for him within the organization. He’s smart and has a fun, infectious personality. He would be a positive mentor for the up-and-coming baby Sharks.

Thanks Brodie and Jason. Really interesting to hear Demers take on the coaching situation and about the worth of Vets and playing the right way. I was all for tanking another year but now I'm not so sure. Dont want to become another Buffalo or even Edm when Connor came in and was expected to be the saviour straight away.

Great interview provided another perspective on building a team. Its the right mix of vets and young players. Dallas has done a good job of adding in new young players. Plus they have Pavs mentoring the younger players.

So we're critical of Quinns coaching but do we know what scheme the sharks were using? Was it a 1-3-1? 2-2-1 or a 4-1?

I'd love the Sharks aiming for a top 10 pick next draft. Somewhere in the 9-12 pick range would be above expected. Let's hope it's not a Top 5 pick, but if it is then we really need progress the season after.

Whoever the Sharks interview as head coach, Grier should make sure that Jumbo Joe and Patrick Marleau are in on the interview process and ask them their feedback, I think they should hire Craig Berube.

I think people are harder on David Quinn because I see it the other way where you can coach your ass off but the players need to execute and the roster was what it was. Also, I like Nico Sturm, but I'm tired of hearing him talking... his stats are horrible. It's not like he's the next coming of Wayne Gretzky here. If he wants to talk, tell him to start producing more and maybe we'll listen
@danynumero68 ай бұрын
I’m sure David Quinn is a really nice guy, but a lot of it is on him. As it’s been said before, you can have a bad team, but can still be competitive and watchable. The Sharks were neither of those things this year and a lot of that falls on the coach. And I don’t understand why you’re giving Nico Sturm such a hard time. He’s not there to be the next Wayne Gretzky. He’s there to be a 3rd line and 4th line grinder. No, his stats were not great, but nobody on the team had good stats this year. Even when he wasn’t scoring, he was one of the very few guys on the team that was consistently pushing and playing hard every single shift that he was out on the ice. He had the best face-off percentage in the league. And when he speaks, he also holds himself accountable by including himself with the rest of the group when addressing what went wrong with the team. He doesn’t give the same old tired, cliché answers that’s so many other NHL players are so prone to do. He is bluntly honest and that is something the Sharks desperately need more of. It makes no sense why you’re attacking him when other players and factors easily deserve more of the blame.
@captainawesome7308 ай бұрын
Come on. They only had a handful of NHL caliber skaters on their team last year. Structure doesn't mean shit without talent to execute it.
