One question that always recurs: why are there so many? Is it a funding thing - people want control of their own project for financial reasons? Why can't the Open source community get behind say just 2 absolute FLAGSHIP products and make them absolutely awesome? Why SO MANY!? Why not JUST Olive and Kdenlive - and make them fantastic?

or just Olive. olive 0.10 is so smooth and fast to edit. the 0.2.0 version i still can't wrap my head around with the node editing and it's not faster and easier for me, and it's overall more buggy, i can't use it. the older olive is still great.

Honestly I abandoned kdenlive as soon as I found flowblade because (at the timat at least) it was so much more stable and faster/"flowy" as you said. Still there are these little things that make it so frustrating sometimes, even if the overall idea is great. I mostly do rather simple stuff with it but I often encounter really annoying situations like you described here and navigating the timeline can be very confusing. Despite all I actually like flowblade but the fundamental issues it has are ruining it, and I sometimes felt like (given the little time I spent looking at some of the issues on github) the creator doesn't even want to address some of them. Looking forward to your opinions on the other video editors, cheers~

Actually its sad that there are no current videos about Flowblade, because its really a good Program. Kdenlive is still my main thing currently, although it decides to needlessly die all the time, because something decides to spike the CPU for no apparent reason. It should not do that since I have 32 GB of Ram but it still does. Flowblade was where I learned how to edit in the first place, so it still holds a dear place in my heart. The only thing its missing for me is shortcuts. KDENlive has keybinds for virtually anything, and I am a heavy keybind person so that is super important to me.

Unfortunately Olive is stuck at V0.1 with some annoying bugs that will never be fixed because it is not developed anymore and the new version is a complete rewrite, buggy, slow and unstable. Somebody should fork the original Olive and continue development.

@@foo2332 yes PLEASE i hope someone will do that. the dev was able to bang out such an incredible video editor in a short time, and since then, it's been worse. so sad :-(

CAn Flowblade auto rotoscope like Davinci Resolve or After Effects? If not when can we expect this feature?
@teklife3 жыл бұрын
which version of flowblade was this? would be nice if you stated that in your video, but i like your review of this editor. i think flowblade can be great if the dev sorts out the stuff you mentioned.

After I up the RAM in my system from 12GB to 16GB, I'm going to take a wack at Da Vinci Resolve since newer AMD drivers evidently play well with it. I rather like Flowblade, but does have serious issues. If those issues were resolved, I doubt I'd need anything else, because the bin, footage logging, and sequence system are actually much more flexible, powerful, and sophisticated than you seem to have noticed. Flowblade is really more for long form narrative and doc editing, IMO, mostly cuts and grading editing at this point for which every other editor in Linux excluding Resolve really blows chunks.

I tried Flowblade while I am watching your video. It seems to be smooth if I had only one video file but as soon as I added another video and 32 bit float audio, it became choppy and jaggy. Kdenlive was not so bad like this when I edited the same files. So I uninstalled the program. I love Kdenlive after all.

First and most important question of all: Does it have vidstab ? (video stabilizer) .. :) Kdenlive actually has it.. and it's superb to correct motion while you recorded walking!
