I thought that too for a second but I think he was more referring to an asymptote. He was referring to an "invisible limit" so to speak, where a certain number of games past 15 games would help you greatly but up to a point where you'd make no more gains no matter how much more you played.
@fortcolors98872 жыл бұрын
@@kevinmoy4001 I'm not sure it's an asymptote. A horizontal asymptote would imply that as you play more games, you get less and less out of each but you're still approaching an invisible limit of peak progress with each game played. However, I think after a certain point playing more actually decreases your efficacy. Playing 24 games a day is not going to be marginally better than playing 15 games a day, but I suspect it'd be much worse.

Dang Nathan's lookin kinda jacked. Big improvement from the WOW lookin' fellow from episode 1

Probably this was just what I needed. Remember Nathan was pushing in early season for that top Challenger and he demoted all the way down because he was spamming too many games? It is exactly what happened to me this week. I have been following the process with great results from the end of last season, 3-blocks and reviewing. This season too. My peak is D4 and I am struggling to get it back, ended last season in P1 promos to Dia and lost them. Well, tightly tied to last week’s episode when Curtis said smth like “it takes a lot to get back your gameplay and feels from the end of last season, playing at your very best”. I got back to P1 95 LP and demoted to P2 just because I ignored the 3-blocks and spammed too many games thinking I could make it. I am playing well, tho, but I cannot win due to spamming many games and bad streak hitting both me and my mental. Anyway, if anyone is reading, thanks. I just needed to unwind and share my experiences. You guys are my relief from soloQ’s struggles. For the rest of BBCers, do not think you guys are alone there. We can do it, stick to the process and do not fuck it up just like I did once again 😵💫

Funny, my friend and I had a conversation about optimal games a week a few days ago. I said 15 and he’s like what that’s absurd! I agree to some extent but I do feel like playing more than one game a session is more effective and playing one session a day is ideal to build and keep muscle memory. Obviously it’s not a schedule for everyone but my friend says like 5 a week is fine and that’s less than 300 games a year…

I know this is an older episode, but when it comes to the whole area of like depression, anxiety, etc I have a different standpoint on it. I personally have been diagnosed with bipolar and at one point in time I had thought those would help me. They did for a little and then I went manic and had a bad episode that lasted just short of a month. I cannot recall two of those weeks at all and the only thing that helps me is my medication. The reason why I bring this up is because I have found a similar thing with league. I can play ranked and grind and see improvement of the game with the three blocks. I got to the point where I just couldnt take ranked anymore and sort of blacked out in a sense. I would still do my three blocks but was lacking all passion for the game and improvement. Thats when I started to play more arams than I had before. Now I play 6-8 arams a day and 3 ranked games a day and have found my passion again. PS. I am unemployed currently as I have not been able to work with my mental health stuff. I want to but am unable to at this point in time.

Speaking of challenges, I think there's a couple ones that could be really valuable for people to look at and work towards. I think challenges such as "lethal efficiency" (kill 80 lane minions within 10 minutes) and "target selection" (score takedowns on enemy junglers near a damaged epic monster) could be very good for rewarding / tracking good decisions in the game. Other good ones include Unkillable Demon King (win without dying), ward hunter (or any of the other ward/ward-clearing challenges), clean clears (70 cs from camps at 10min), soul sweep (4-0 dragons), and more.

Really interesting conversation and I like the point on being introspective about your games. I'm currently at the stage where I'm rebuilding skills I've lost as a result of not having the time to play during the week due to long work days. That is also good to hear as I didn't think about skills deteriorating at such a rate due to not playing as many games consistently.

The guy who hates junglers should play some jungle on a smurf. He'll find out real quick that the role isn't elo inflated and that his demands are unreasonable.

Mind blowing concept that sweating is not a bad thing. IMO just means high intensity game play.

Normally I agree with you guys on almost everything but the depression/anxiety stuff I dont think I do. If you have literally 0 motivation b/c of a chemical imbalance in your brain how can you expect someone to get up work out and do things?
@someoneelse22632 жыл бұрын
I didn't watch the joe rogan episode, but the quote stated was simply about how you need to make sure you are keeping good habits first. Once you have covered the basics: diet, exercise, sleep, then you turn to more specialized care or processes. No one said that if you are taking good care of yourself you are problem free. But you should start with good self care and see where it takes you. If it's not enough, it's not enough and there are further steps to take. The issue was about the basics of self care being ignored. I think there is a bit of nuance in that if you are mentally ill it is difficult to just 'fix your habits' and see how you level out, but the intention of the statement was simply to try to fix your lifestyle first before claiming mental illness.

@@someoneelse2263 For a lot of people you cant just get the energy or motivation to do the "basic" things. I agree you should be doing those things but the best results are often doing both at once getting the help you need then working on day to day things

@@afteraffect And I'm assuming by "getting the help you need" you mean talking pills, to fix your "chemical imbalance." Good luck with that

Question for Curtis, Nathan or anyone really: when 3-blocking should I continue the block even if I am mega tilted after a game, take a short break (15-20 mins), or stop the block altogether?
