Being a Retired Firefighter I don't understand something, the best vantage point you could have is from one of your truck companies, not putting a bunch of firefighters on the roof that has flames shooting out of it while the guys underneath are fighting the fire. Why weren't the water cannons on the towers spraying water?
@DByers-ci5kr2 жыл бұрын
Using aerial monitors while there are crews working below would be extremely dangerous. The weight of the water might bring the roof/ceiling/facade down on them or the force of master streams might cause debris to fly into the firefighters. The two TLs (46 & 51) had supply lines stretched to engines in the event operations were changed to exterior attack. "Surround & Drown" is really a last resort when interior attack isn't deemed safe & all rescue operations have ceased. This was an outstanding video. Thanks RV for getting some overview from atop the building across the street as well as observing the separate VES efforts on the street level.

In my opinion the should have got the master steams working right away. That probably would have slowed or even stop the spread of the fire. The common problem is the inter- connected cockloft, it like balloon construction only horizontal. Never heard of a cockloft nozzle but NYFD has them.

@gregadomeit40203 жыл бұрын
@@jimmccabe801 when did I even hint about telling them how to fight the fire. Most fires that the respond to when the fire is through the roof they especially on single story structures they get the Firefighters out and use master streams to knock it down then going back in to hit the hot spots. Seriously don't you think a few minutes from the elevated master streams would have helped first?? Honest question. Their was alot of Firefighters in that structure and if that roof would have came down it would have been a terrible. This was my opinion after watching the video and I was not telling them how to do their job.
