our weight and cadence just about the same, i have two shoe now to consider which suitable us lightweight runner. about the pick this Glycerin Max, but. maybe Asics Glideride Max suit better i think.

I don't know... The Glideride Max seems a pretty similar shoe to this one: pretty heavy, lots of midsole, wide base.

YES!!! I agree with everything you said. Every ShoeTuber hyped this thing to the moon. I bought it as soon as I could. In the first half mile I thought I must be crazy as my experience couldn't be more opposite to what they ALL said. I had to really fight with it to achieve easy pace. It felt like more work than normal to just try and casually run. This shoe probably has a market for folks that do just want to plod and have excessive levels of protection BUT it's a terrible experience for people who like to cruise around at an easy to moderate pace. I even gave it a second chance as a "could thus just be my recovery run shoe. Where I absolutely just crawl along". The weight of it just nah.... This has really made me question the integrity of other ShoeTubers with their "my views are my own... No one has paid me" spiel. Yeah they might not have been paid but I think they want the free shoes to keep coming. Thank you for being honest!! I'll be subscribing!

AND the price point is way too high if you don't love the shoe
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot and really glad to have you here! I really wanted to love this shoe because it looks so cool and I'm always for companies doing new things. Especially Brooks who are known to make 'boring' shoes. Yeah, some reviews do seem a bit questionable and seem to repeat many of Brooks' own claims about the shoe. But with reviewers of course there is always the question if you like this kind of shoe in the first place and I just don't really. It's the kind of shoe that many seem to think is necessary for easy/recovery runs and everything with a bit of ground feel is bad for the legs. Never found that to be the case for me. The Pegasus Plus for instance has been working really well for me for these kind of runs the past few weeks. Thanks again for the sub:)

It looks incredible… in a whacky kinda way! So do you reckon the foam would suit a performance shoe moreso than a recovery shoe?
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Indeed one of the coolest looking shoes I've ever seen. Looks more like a prop from an Alien movie than a Brooks Running Shoe. This foam is gold. Brooks needs to put this stuff in a truly lightweight Hyperion style shoe with much lower stack height. That could be a winner.
@paulmulks3 ай бұрын
Isn't that the women's version of the shoe? Thought the mens had a yellow foam inside 🤔
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Yes, indeed. I buy the women's model most of the time because I prefer the colors. I have a pretty small foot so it works out well for me.

@@robin29991 The women’s colorway looks better. Any idea if they are narrower than the men’s version in the same converted size?
@robin299913 ай бұрын
I think the might be narrower. It says Medium(B) on the tag which I think converts to a narrow men's version. But honestly these are not very narrow at all. I have more of a wide foot and they fit perfectly.

Its hard to have 2 heavy leg days and to keep up mileage in a week. I think these are worth trying if you constantly have sore hamstrings/glutes/quads. I definitely need to try this
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Go for it. I think very slow Recovery Days is basically this shoe's niche as you don't feel the ground at all. You probably have a bit more muscle mass than me lol, so could work well for you.
@mrgroundhog97903 ай бұрын
Looks an interesting shoe. I’m 100kg so might find better activation of the foam, however the price point seems a little steep. Thanks for the review.
@robin299913 ай бұрын
It really is an interesting shoe and I felt like I really wanted to like them but they just don't work for me at all. If you like Max Cushion Shoes, they could do it for you. Just know you're getting something heavy with zero ground feel. Agree on the price point. The shoe is just kind of limited to very slow Recovery Runs and for that niche use case it seems too much.
@koolkuzc3 ай бұрын
I also fell for the review hype and bought these when they came out. I am perhaps closer to the intended user, being old, slow and 22kg heavier than you, but my experience has been very poor. It felt like a much bigger effort than usual to run in them. I am objectively slower, and after using them as my daily trainer for a bit over a week my Garmin training status changed to unproductive and I lost a unit of VO2max! I even disagree with you about them being that comfortable, I have shoes with very lightweight uppers that feel better. You can buy a pair of Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 for 10% less money, they feel just as cushioned to me and they make you feel like a runner instead of an elephant. Probably not quite as durable as the BGM, but still pretty good in that respect.
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've done one more run in them since filming this and have sort of given up on them now. These will end up on the second hand market I think. I think the comfort is mostly due to the perfect fit(for my foot at least) and everything being so super padded and soft feeling. But honestly I don't think anybody actually needs this much padding and what it ends up doing is just adding even more weight to the shoe. Haven't tried the DNE3, but just as a daily trainer something like the Pegasus Plus which I've been enjoying lately more than gets the job done in terms of upper. Very comfortable and doesn't feel like a sofa...

The reviews of this shoe have been interesting. Anyway, this shoe is not a goer at its exorbitant launch price. Perhaps after 2 years or so, when they have been discounted about 60%, I might try them.
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Yes, what I think everyone can agree on with this one is that Brooks did at least not make a 'boring' shoe here. In two years who knows if 45mm will be considered a Barefoot Shoe;)

alphaflys being heavy for you is kind of insane, what are some shoes you like that are lighter than af?
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Definitely not the Alphafly 3, that one is very light. The v2 not so much. But with the Alphafly line it's always been the bulk and softness of it, that's not really my thing... Always been more of a Vaporfly guy.

What is the reason for chosing the Womans model of this shoe ?
@robin299913 ай бұрын
I buy the women's model most of the time. I have small feet. I don't remember if the men's model was available with this one but honestly the main reason is I prefer the color.
@TimGrose3 ай бұрын
Umm probably not the shoe for me either. Brooks marketing is a bit odd with these Max shoes. They all seem to be high stack 6mm drop shoes with rockers and zero ground feel and really nothing like the "standard" one of the same name so it seems. I think it is a type of shoe that some runners now love and seemingly can't run in anything with any "ground feel". Was amused however that a 275g ish shoe is your heaviest one. That would be one of my "lightest". You are however about 20kg less in "bulk" even if I still thing am a "skinny beanpole"
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Oh No, don't buy this one, Tim. Weight would be ridiculous in your size. Technically the Vomero 5 is my heaviest shoe but I didn't include that as it's technically a lifestyle shoe. I think I was trying to be diplomatic with this one. As you say, many people seem to love this type of shoe. I remember I always kind of enjoyed the Invincible for a bit of bouncy and squishy fun. But this completely dwarfs the Invincible. It's just excessive and feels awkward at every pace for me. Yeah, even if being diplomatic, this shoe is pretty terrible...
@alb.19113 ай бұрын
If you are so light, just get the Hyperion 2 for the easy runs... 😉 I think you can send back the Glycerin Max...
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Been thinking about that one actually. Could work well for me. But not sure with this Adidas Evo SL coming up which seems like a similar kind of shoe. I don't think much of sending shoes back after a video, doesn't seem right to me. I'll persist with this for maybe a few more runs, and it could well end up on Vinted or Marketplace eventually haha.
@alb.19113 ай бұрын

for the price point of a shoe with no plate, it just makes no sense. There are plenty of other shoes that are way better - for less.
@robin299913 ай бұрын
Yeah, not just having no plate but I think this shoe is so limited. It's not even a Daily Trainer for me, it's pretty niche in only being for very slow Recovery Days.

This shoe is awrsome. This shoe will last longer than a plated shoe i think. I own the first gen NB SUPERCOMP trainers and I like these way more. The stiffness the brooks nitrogen foam is gives it rebound. . Not much as a plated shoe but noticeably more than any non plated shoe I've ever felt. Also I think your paying for build quality.. These shoes feel really premium. These are my favorite running shoes ever. I would buy again in a heart beat. The only thing I don't like is that I have very flat feet and there seems to be some pressure in the shoe right where my arches are.
