I have the 230i MSport Xdrive. Really great car, quick enough, handles on rails, fun daily and for the price hard to beat in a BMW. I don’t track my car and you can only go so fast on the street that’s why I went with the 230i. Also, it gets really great mpg.

I ordered a brand new 2024 230i m sport rwd, and added a jb4 and downpipe on it. Since then I drove a stock m240i and m340i xdrive and was underwhelmed! Worse handling, Worse stopping power. Yes pulls better past 5,000k - and the sound is better, I'll give you that. If i ordered a new m240i it would be 10k more - 10k more is NOT worth it! I agree with you that neither car is a 'real' sports car but rather a very nice GT with slightly vague steering and a lack of manual transmission is truly disappointing. That's why that 10k could be better spent on a nice project car like a e36 or e46 m3 project / weekend / track car. Great comparison btw!

The 2025 has a few more differences. 1. Body matching side skirts and rear valence for MY25. 2. Interior dash redesign with iDrive 8.5 for MY25. 3. Leather knee pads for all trims on MY25. 4. Sunroof Delete option on M240i for MY25. 5. Totally different wheel options for MY25.

The B58 is too good but I'd argue that a (nearly) fully loaded 230i is a better value if you don't absolutely have to have the I6. B48 is still a solid engine.
@BrosFOURRSpeed14 күн бұрын
It's a solid option. But for the price of a fully loaded 230, I'd want the 6 cyl
@toddstevens850615 күн бұрын
Totally different character. Performance aside, the b48 is bland but the b58 sounds waay better, and you can get the M240i with adaptive dampers, a must have unless your roads are mostly smooth in your area. I was going to buy a 230i but chose the M240i after I drove them both. If you're a car guy, no contest here.
@BrosFOURRSpeed15 күн бұрын
The M240 is definitely a great choice! If you just want the sportscar look, the 230 will suffice.
@postalpanchoКүн бұрын
I’m a car guy and got the 230 over the m240. I do autocross so the added weight and power doesn’t help me. I rather have the lighter car that still has enough power. The m240 power is undeniable and both platforms are very tuner friendly. The biggest problem with the m240 in my opinion is 3700 pounds. The 230i has 370 pounds less weight over the front axle and it makes a difference. The m240 try’s to hide its weight with a faster steering rack but at the limit the 230 will have an edge, especially if you equip some 200tw tires.
@redsiricer5 күн бұрын
You gain marginal weight savings and improved handling with the 230i but lose massive HP/TQ (and only IF you have an LSD in the 230i). Not worth it IMO. There are much more interesting 4 cylinder options out there if you don't need the B58.

Did 230i have the LSD equipped? Would you say it is the better handler of the two? Is the steering feel better in one or the other?
@BrosFOURRSpeed15 күн бұрын
I'm not sure on the 230, but no the M240 is the better of the two in terms of performance and handling.
@postalpanchoКүн бұрын
If you see a 230i with big colorful red or blue brakes then it has an ELSD. The ELSD is standard on m240 but is an option for 230z
@dinosoarmotorsports14 күн бұрын
Good video, but I disagree that the 230 is a good car IF, you daily drive it, or want an entry-level sports car. It's a great sports car, period. It is superior to the M240 other than acceleration, IMO. Handling is a critical factor to sports cars, so it cannot be dismissed as a primary aspect. Seems like half of all 2 Series are M240 xDrives..which makes it worse with so much focus on acceleration, with even more compromised handling. Yes, all 2 Series are excellent. Power is not everything.
@BrosFOURRSpeed14 күн бұрын
If power isn’t everything, which I agree with..how’s that make the 230 superior?
