The most annoying thing in Shogun 2: Watching these scenes all the way through, and being like "All right! That stupid character that's been giving me hell for months is finally dead!" And then you close the video and the game's just like "Wounded." Apparently my ninja planted that knife in his nose rather than his head.

Unlike in most forms of media, it is not always easy to kill a person in real life. Even a blow to the head isn't guaranteed to kill a target. The survival rate of gunshot wounds to the head is about 30% in the short term, and about 8% in the long term. Of course, bullets do far more damage to your brain than blades, as they cavitate the tissue and can bounce around in the skull, so the survival rate of stab wounds to the head is probably even higher.

@Mister Guy Um your comment is wrong it's beyond funny. 1. The Samurai did not believe in sneaking around and trying to kill their foe like that, they believed in fighting upfront like a man, to go against this was against EVERYTHING samurai stood for. So no a SAMURAI would NEVER act like some assassin. That would be shameful and cowardly and they would sooner kill themselves. 2. Historical speaking Ninja's where peasants etc lower class who rebelled against the upper class so they relied on dirty tricks and sneaking around at night because they could never match the Samurai sword to sword. Etc a Ninja would lose to a Samurai who spent years and years and years learning the way of the sword

Martin Anthonyo the ninja probably saw the other two were looking at the map and so looking down. Still way to risky to do that though
I'm no expert, yet here's my favourite and why: The one poisoning water by use of a nigh invisible smooth thread. If trained well, the Ninja can: 1) Remain hidden whilst killing the target 2) Target has a high chance of not noticing it, whether there be a bodyguard near or not. 3) No noise except from target's last breath 4) If investigated, chances are highest that they mistake it for a natural death, as there is no blood marks or signs of a fight. 5) Ninja can stay hidden even if a bodyguard saw the death of the one he was supposed to protect. So in short, I like that version best because it is way more secretive, just as effective as a sharp blade, no need for killing guards along the way (you can climb in the tree, this takes no killing of guards I assume xD ), and the confusion is the highest! It is not certain whether he was assassinated until after much uncertain examinations - and in war, a delayed army can prove disastrous! As Napoleon once stated; "battles are won and lost in the matter of an hour".

The actual ninjas would wear whatever they needed to complete their mission- they could be dressed as a guard or a servant to get close to their target. The ninja outfit as we know it comes from Japanese theater where the stagehands would wear it to blend into the dark background, making it easier for the audience to ignore them since they're not supposed to be part of the show. Then, when one of them would suddenly kill a character it was meant to be shocking to the audience

As a matter of fact, Ninja rarely needed any weapon, instead they used devices to escape from the their enemies if they were found out, such as, smoke bombs, cards, flash bombs, caltrops and many other instruments to slow down, disorientate or even incapacitate their pursuers. But if they did have a weapon it would be Shuriken as I've mentioned before. In relation to what colour they wore, it is quite a long story I could tell you but I'll try and break it down in another comment. (No more room)
@killerfoxy9362 жыл бұрын
I just started watching your videos and they look so good give you a feeling of what people used to do back then so I like those little like a little history kind of type thank you
@traxingtonsmythe856012 жыл бұрын
First of all, I believe Ninja would often wear just regular attire, but obviously nothing too eye-catching so they would not rouse suspicion. Secondly Ninja weren't really from a particular clan, but mostly they had their own clans, isolated in the mountains, each member would be trained and have knowledge passed down to them from a very early age, it was almost as students of other Japanese arts like Bushido or Chi would isolate themselves to perfect the art. Their art was named Ninjutsu.
@1234yersiman14 жыл бұрын
They should have one more thing to this. I notice that the ninjas sometimes detected after the assassination, so they should have additional parts if the ninja fails to escape after the assassination. That would be kinda more realistic, since the assassination is a success, but if your ninja fails to escape, you lose a ninja.

Here's a short description for anyone interested: The gunbai is a solid metal war fan used by samurai officers to communicate commands to their troops. The gunbai-uchiwa version was typically rounded in shape and stiff with a prolonged grip, and could also be used as weapon using the handle to strike and the stiff fan to block with.

For those, who are pissed at "Wounding the guy instead of killing him", its because in history, lower man killing a nobleman in Japan was really dishonorable, that even assassins would be ashamed

Interesting cinematic that isn't shown here, I was playing Shogun 2 yesterday and it turns out that the poison in the drink won't always work, if your Assassin's target sniffs the drink, the samurai will throw it and freak out (I think). But I think you ninja escapes unnoticed. And with the fail compilation, it fails to show the escape scene after waking up the Samurai company. Its rare, but after your ninja drops caltrops, one to three samurai will fall down due to the caltdrops, but one samurai will stop and throw a knife into your ninja.

The one in which the samurai grabs his leg dreaming he's grasping his wife will never not be funny to me. The way the ninja looks at him like "fuck, are yoy serious?" And then immediately falls on top of another guy without waking him up. This has got to be both the luckest and unluckiest assassin ever.

Not his wife, its a geisha. Meaning he misses having sex and company with a woman or fell in love with one and misses her

Travel light, kill as efficiently as possible, and always make certain to leave no trace of you behind. Those are the three primary rules of being a ninja.

Thank you so much for this, I got so bored of seeing the same one over and over (it was always the "stab in the bed" one, except for once or twice where I got the "stab through the wall" one) in the hopes of getting some more interesting ones. This way, I can just skip them all, and watch them here.

Jordan Wu Infiltration isn't always a possibility. Sometimes you gotta don the ninja suit and do things the hard way.
@capscaps049 жыл бұрын
+Jordan Wu this cutscenes are more comidecal focus than historical focus. for example, ninjas did dress like civilian or like samurais to infiltrate (they do that specialy to infiltrate into enemies towns, etc to get information (like spies)) another example historical wrong thing in these cutscenes are that ninjas didn`t carry their swords in the back, they carry in their waist(just like the samurais).

Mostly during Night missions where they’ll have to go atop roofs do Ninjas dress as ninjas. In day they disguise themselves as people or guards.

How to be paranoid: Never have your back to the wall. Stay in a room with preferably no windows, or windows with curtains drawn. Have someone in the room, a trusted guard, facing you. Leave the door open and your guards standing there. Never stay under a tree. Mind your head. Stay far from windows.
@traxingtonsmythe856012 жыл бұрын
You know Ninja never really wore black, and they were very rarely used as assassins, they were more common as spies and informers. Their weapons were usually a regular katana as they were the highest quality weapon in Japan at the time, not the shortened Ninjato as they are often seen using, but they would use Shuriken: Darts, Stars or other throwing implements to kill or injure any enemies. Just thought you all might find this interesting. :)

For what it's worth, you can use ninja in the game for more than just assassinations; you can use them for sabotage and- I think- inciting rebellion.
