Brother MFC-L3750CDW - How to easily access the Toner Reset menu

Demonstrates how to access the Toner Reset menu for the Brother MFC-L3750CDW laser printer.
I tried to follow the other videos and couldn't access the menu - and I felt dumb. Once I figure it out, I decided to make a video.
This is my first KZbin video made using editing software - that's why it looks a bit trashy. Be nice. :)
So here's the TL;DR:
Ensure you have the printer Top Cover open.
Then:
1. Press Back + Cancel
2. Press Back within 2 seconds!

Hello Patrick. I have this same printer and about a year ago I changed the cartridges and they didn't auto reset (apparently a reasonably common issue). I didn't find your video at the time but after about an hour of frustration with doing strange other things, I was able to fluke just once what overs said to work, but the reality was they did far more than was necessary, and didn't mention a time limit, just that it had to be done (plus some unnecessary crap). Very Frustrating. Similar thing just happened again (replacement cartridge did not reset) but this time I found Your vid. So simple. Works every time. Will share with a mate who has a very similar printer (the model that replaced it I think). Thanks heaps!

At first when I tried this it wouldn’t work at all. It would just give me the two error beeps. It was because the toner ran out half way through a print job. So, first I pressed the X button to cancel the current print jobs, then I went through the process outlined in this video and reset the toner. Thank you for sharing this.

Works. Just make sure you open the actual unit where the cartridges are. I kept making the mistake of lifting the upper part where you clear out jams. Once I figured I my mistake it worked instantly.

Works on Firmware S1.59 once you pay attention and actually have cover open instead of just on the toner out screen which looks similar. Thank you!!!

Do not work for me. Every time I try, it says "confirmed" but the toner is still empty. Firmware 1.59. Before this firmware I already use this technics and it worked !!!

My friend just bought a new genuine brother cartridge for her mfcL3770cdw and it kept telling her it was still low needed changed. After a few hours of fustration we figured out it was a bad "board connection" not the contacts they looked fine. The bottom part of the lttle circuit board had this red looking scratch or something. Took it back to office max, new one works as should. Just cause it is new dont mean the didnt mess up the little board some where.

the reset woks fine 1) if you have original chips of old toners keeps it in a safe place... mark it with the description of the color 2) to prevent problems in the future, disable the automatic firmware update 3) make sure your printer is not connected to the internet, if you don´t need direct print and so on.... i get some after market toner the would work fine for a while, but after an automatic firmware update the printer shows up the message "please insert toner" if you prevent the printer to do automatic fimreware upades (or manually) you should be safe ;)...if you get the message an have older original chips change the chips an do a toner reset...

Yes this did happened to me, my Aftermarket toner cartridges stopped working afternoon firmware update. I did get purchaser a new chip, installed it, and all good again. It's an ongoing battle between brother vs Aftermarket toners. Thanks for your detailed post . 🙂

Thanks. Ive managed to reset the toner however its still asking me to replace the toner - its a new one and i'm getting frustrated lol. Any other tips?

Is it a genuine Brother cartridge you installed? They don't allow aftermarket cartridges any more. If it's genuine, restart the printer open/ close it.

Made the mistake of allowing updates. Now the machine will only use Brothers ink only! Cost of cartridges was more than a new printer. It should be illegal for companies to do this. So a new printer it is!

@@psaunder1975 purchasing a Cannon. Cheaper than purchasing the Brother cartridges. I have used this printer for probably 6-8 years, buying a second one when the first one died, I liked it so much. So very disappointed with Brother.

It still works fine with the latest firmware :) A question,is it possible for this model to use after market toners?And if it is,does it requires anything special in order to do so.Or its just "plug and play"

You can do either. I have purchased replacement toner cartridge, works fine. I'll also bought a refill toner kit for my original cartridges, works fine also no issues. 2nd option is more fiddly as hole needs to be cut into the cartridge to refill it, videos on KZbin will show this.

I followed the steps, it showed 8 entries. 2 Ks 2 Cs 2Ms and 2Ys. Reset all, made no diff. Same error. All drums replaced 3 weeks ago, all was working fin then yest at 5pm it started this b.s.

I got this to work for the black, but it ignores it for the other colors. I get to the menu, do the reset, and it says "Accepted", but it does not do the reset. Perhaps a firmware update has closed this hole?

Yes im having same issues with mine. The latest firmware has definitely changed the reset behaviour.😕

Don't hold the 'back+cancel' key combination... Just tap it instantly then you tap again the 'back' button only... Just like the instruction on this video, it should work perfectly
