I would have gone on that date. Never judge a book by its cover! A story from my high school years. A guy walked into my class. My first impression, forgive me, was that he had a face only a mother could love. As time went by, his personality shown through. He was very smart, sensitive, caring, good hearted, and had one wicked sense of humor! If he hadn't had a girlfriend, well, I would have asked him out. There are way more important things in life than a person's physical appearance!

Idk how many women are like Sia, but I will say that intentionally making herself look unattractive was a smart move. I think there are too many relationships based on appearances, which I would bet money has led to a LOT of divorces. Sia made sure that someone loved HER, and not her looks or money. Sia definitely deserves the inheritance. As for Alex, I agree he's a shallow person. I really don't understand people who go solely based off looks or money. Threatening to fire OP if he didn't date Sia was also a very low move, although, in hindsight, that was probably a good thing Alex did for OP, who got to reap the benefits of dating Sia. Sia's dad may be powerful, but, from what it looks like, he's someone who doesn't put up with nonsense. OP's dad probably knew how much Alex messed up, and... I'm suspicious that Alex may have quit due to the bad image he made for his dad. Sia's family was ready to put OP's dad in his place. Why they didn't, I don't know, but I would wager that much negotiation was involved. In the end, OP got everything he wanted after his brother threatened to fire him. Interesting how the world works sometimes......

I loved this story! He took time to get to know her as a person. It was awesome that she felt comfortable with OP to be herself. She learned a hard lesson about men and had to protect herself and family money.

He was just likely mad that he could've gotten a lot from dating Sia, and that OP was reaping the rewards he could've gotten..... And Alex was one of those people who don't think about the consequences before they take an action.... Alex was likely used to ordering people around without consequence, and then forgot to take into account that Sia's family was even wealthier than his own, and therefore they had the greater bargaining power.....

oddly enough from what I've heard from a friend of mine this "doctored photo test" is actually very common with olde fashioned families. It's more or less meant to test the character of the guy they intend to set their daughter up on a blind date. Specifically whether they are the type of person who is kind and open minded or if they are just another superficial moron. This is done because superficial people are almost always abusive and cruel and not to many people want to see their daughter in that kind of situation. Honestly it pretty clever how they go about it though I will say that while it's a bit creepy and more than a little overbearing that even after you pass the first test those types family will watch you like a hawk and go over how you treat them with a fine tooth comb but as I said it's their daughters safety and well being on the line so I think it's an understandable approach.
