​@@madhippy3 Lore is secondary to story. The exposition is to reveal that Ultima is essentially a manipulator. Ultima is direct parallel to Anabelle. Their driving motivations are the same, survival. Anabelle the survival of her noble bloodline, the source of sovereignty. Ultima survival of his kin in creating a world without blight. They are both referenced as creators. Anabelle the mother of Clive, Joshua, and Olivier. Ultima the creator of humanity. They are both disappointed by their creations. Anabelle resents both Joshua and Clive. Joshua for being feeble, and Clive for not being the Phoenix. Ultima is disappointed by the emergence of free will in humanity and the will of Clive to resist him. The lore dump is secondary to this revelation that Ultima is just as much in the dark as his creations.

@@deangraves7462 We didnt need xposition to show that. Its actually something we already are shown. The game tells us there is a creation myth three or so times as we find this mural in the ancient ruins, but it isn't expanded upon naturally with the story. It is harshly inserted into a lore dump. It doesn't feel like something that makes sense to happen in the moment. Ultima doesn't need us to understand 5 minutes of ancient history for his plan to succeed. He is about to test our strength before mindfucking us into compliance. It serves no purpose in a story. It exists only because they didn't have it anywhere else (probably development woes) and had to shove it somewhere for the players, not the PCs.

You know you're near the endgame when the game throws a Behemoth at you. That fight was great, the Brother team gives me a lot of Alisae and Alphinaud vibes (Clive is definitely the Alisae of the two). 1:33:26 Also, lol at that final Extinction "f**k you" from the Behemoth. Reminds me of the first time I died to a final Meteor from a Behemoth in FFX inside Sin. 2:00:18 The controllable party members we never got. Ah well, we're always free to dream. Also that FF music. 2:06:57 Time for some Answers. Jesse finally got his wish and got a whole lot of lore dump from Ultima. From his silence you can tell that Jesse is REALLY paying attention. without spoiler for now, BUT the game ending is writing masterclass... i can't wait to get your reaction , i have a lot to say but you will understand the camera fade to long black screen it's not "loading issue" but a hint for the game last scene before the credit, LIke the moon and the red star... the game script was written first then the side quests added later, the "lines" they choose to put in the side quests near the end, gives new perspective to look at the game conclusion...

At least we got some insight into why he isn't using it. As he says he keeps thinking he will need it for the next fight and so doesn't use it. I was wondering if he was still forgetting to use it, but no, it seems to be a deliberate choice.

My favourite part of this section is after they beat the Behemoth, they do this dramatic jump across a gap. But if you turn around when you regain control, there was a REALLY short gap they could have just stepped over, like 5 steps next to the one they did use xD

Psyduck be watching this like Psy aye aye... Also that giant colloseum is for a later side quest that's tied to a hunt. Tbh all the abandoned important looking areas in that last area of Waloed are for side quests for one thing or another. Also if you do all the side quests and hunts, you'll have more than enough materials to make Gotterdammerung and both the Ouroboros pieces.

For anyone not sure how to deal with the lasers with Ultima here, Garuda's Deadly embrace is the easiest way to avoid it since it lifts you and can pull you up twice~

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought that you could get out of the way of the lasers that easily, but if you say it works it's something for Jesse to keep in mind for the next time he faces Ultima.

Jesse... do you remember that you have a block with Titan? That would probably help with the photon attack. Either use that or switch to using Shiva or Bahamut for their evasion abilities.

As for Gigaflare it is a light element, at least that is my thought. If you pick Bahamaut as one the Eikons your magic is Dia the light element. I used for the entirety that you can once you get it and it is honestly one of the best to get stagger down and damage output.

On the one hand it's unfortunate that Jesse never tries out anything other than the basic/starting abilities from the beginning of the game, but I admire his commitment to playing his way! I also think it's great that you can beat the game without ever trying to maximize combo damage and just have fun with it.

The game not explaining one of the most broken Dash abilities in the game properly is so frustrating. Shiva's Dash is probably the best Dash in the game. It's the only one that counts as an Evade and if performed with the right timing it triggers a large AoE Freeze on all enemies _including bosses._ That means you can chain-freeze enemies by just being competent with Perfect Evade timing. Btw the headstone at 45:05 is a hint to which TV show had the most influence on the game's nations-at-war backdrop. And it ain't GoT. These two names as husband and wife only appear in "The Last Kingdom" series. A somewhat fictional account of Alfred the Great, the Saxon king who set in motion and actively participated in many of the events that would eventually lead to a unified Britain. Most of the characters were real people and most of what they do in the show happened in real history. But there are few fictional characters, such as the main PoV character Uhtred. Late in the series, a former Uhtred ally-turned-bitter-enemy Brida shows up as the main villain with a new husband, Cnut. The character Cnut is based on a real person and many of things he does in the show were done by historical Cnut. It's just historical Cnut did them about a century after the setting of "The Last Kingdom"; he also didn't have a wife named Brida.

question: since Jesse is pointing out that he cannot put the Shiva ability on since it's not at masters level yet, would it not be good to switch TItan to Shiva (on the 3rd Eikon slot) and put the earth fist ability on? Or would that change a passive that I'm not aware of?

I'm loving your FFXVI playthrough and I'm super excited for the Skyrim return. Make sure you get the Skyrim Anniversary edition so you get all the cool extra stuff. The houses you get in that version will be something you will really appreciate.

It can and clearly will get worse. At this point I don't understand why Ultima hasn't started killing off Clive's friends in an effort to break his will. Sure it might anger and make Clive even stronger but it's the one obvious move we haven't seen Ultima make.
