Wish I had this video 28 years ago. I did a pair on one truck and he told 20 friends. I did not see the punch you used to flare out the rivets but had a set of “Mathew” roll-pin punches. These punches are fractional I size, but have a “Half Ball” machined on the end. Designed to self-center on a hollow roll pin, but works great on rivets to tighten and flare out. I think I bought them from the SnapOn truck in plastic vinyl snap top package. Regardless of brand, if you do these, try “Roll-Pin” punches or grind one old punch to fit, It honestly took me 3+ hours my first time. I like the tape trick as I dropped a couple of packaged rivets the first time. Thanks for the video, info and tips as I learned the hard way! ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired.

Once installed, is the rubber on the bottom of the vent window frame where it meets the top of the door, supposed to flare out and lay on top of the door?

Hey guys ! Question, I rebuilt my windows, vents, everything on my 1968 c10 about 3 years ago ! The little pivot pin - on top where you open or close the vent window - broke, any suggestion on a fix without replacing the frame ? If I have to one side , might as well both ! Thanks guys, you all are awesome on these old trucks ! 👍

I just received this product an hour ago via UPS from you guys. My '67 already has the vent windows refurbished, so I'm doing this with my '69 this weekend, if I have the time. Doesn't look too bad to do. I received your flush fit side marker lenses last week and they look freakin' awesome! So much better than the bulky stock lenses! And the polished stainless tailgate protector I purchased that goes on the top rail adds some personality too. I have a question. Does Brothers sell the rivets to attach the grill fascia to the side and center brackets and the plastic inner grill section for my '69? Or can I use just plain old 1/8" rivets like I use on other projects? I haven't ground them off to check the size yet.
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV4 жыл бұрын
Good luck with the Vent Window project! Thanks for the feedback on the Side Markers too! We do sell a complete Grill Hardware kit with all those rivets and all the other associated hardware to attach the brackets and Inner Grill. I have been through the online parts book numerous times and not found the complete vent (wind wing) window and channel assembly. I also have not found the complete door assemblies that have been featured on other videos. I am trying to rebuild my 78 Suburban and these are things I need to get as the vehicle was stripped when in storage. I am also planning to have electric windows and locks in the new doors.

Dale, the vent window assembly isn't available for 73-87, but that rubber is and the job is much easier than on 67-72. Regarding the door assemblies you asked about, call our Customer Service guys and they'll either help you find it online or they'll just take an order over the phone. 800-977-2767

My 68 C10 has rivets holding the vent window to the door. Can I convert that to screws rather than rivets? I bought the entire vent window assembly.
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Someone has to have removed the original screws and placed those rivets you have because it definitely didn't come from the factory that way.

Great video, but you did not show how to get the upper section of rubber into the channel. You slid the bottom in from the end, but that will not be an option for the top. How did you get it on? Thanks
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV4 жыл бұрын
At about the 15:55 mark, you'll see that Dave explains to tuck the lower portion of the rubber into the metal channel, and then using a plastic spatula tuck the other side of the rubber the rest of the way into the channel. We have a video for 1960-63 Vent Windows which are very similar and may also illustrate it better: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp6yYZxqpJxjgqs
