How to remove, clean, and replace firing pins on a Browning Cynergy over and under. I’ve been having light primer strikes causing a failure to fire. Most times I can attemp to re-fire the same shell and it will ignite, but after ruining a good trap or clays score. I ordered new firing pins and springs and I plan to replace them to see if they are the cause of the issue.
Found videos on how to do this on Citori’s but not Cynergy’s. Hope this is helpful to others.

Good job!!! I took my Cynergy down once to look at the action and after 3 seconds (and seeing that "C" clip and the cotter pins) I decided it was not "self serviceable" so I just sprayed in down with solvent and put the stock back on. My other over/unders are so much simpler!!!

Thanks for the information! I had the same problems with the firing pin, I dismantled the gun and polished the firing pins cleaned gun action with spray on brake cleaner and q tips, oiled the gun and now it works fine.👍

Not to sound like a skipping record but Great Video!!! Easy to follow, informative and clear picture. Started having misfires on lower barrel, light strikes, noticed firing pin tip didn't look normal. Another club member had same problem with his Cynergy with not even 500 rounds through it. Thanks!

At 12:29 where you put the C clip back on. I find that if you take a small screwdriver & push the pin back out to where the pin cut out is flush with the receiver, the C clip slides right in. Lay the clip on the receiver & gently push it back on to the pin. When the pin is pushed all the way in there is a small lip there that is causing issues getting it to pop back on. Great video thought, I could not find anyone to work on mine that won't take a month or more. This gave me the confidence to do it myself. J&P got the parts to me very quickly.

Great video thank you. I'm new to over under shotguns. Just bought a Cynergy CX. Love it. Have you seen any videos on cleaning and lubing this model?

Thanks for video. Can U play tell me why Browning stopped production of the cynergy. Great shotgun for sporting targets, may still be popular in Australia

Great Video! I saw some step by step instructions on the net but your video made it much clearer. I had two fail to fire, one after the other at the last shoot. The first was a reload so I figured that was on me, probably a primer set to deep. The second was a factory STS so I’m guessing that there might be some gunk in there. Jim at J&P is a good guy, great resource for parts and info.

Yes, excellent video. I have a related question. Do you have a video focusing on the safety slider/barrel selector? Thanks

I do not, as I have not had any issues with the barrel selector. I’m not a gunsmith, just a guy attempting to fix his own stuff.

Again great video and will not hesitate to perform this on my Cynergy. I'm curious, how many rounds did you have through your gun before it started having problems?
@philpremschak5347
@philpremschak5347 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had the gun over a decade, so I’m guessing 5000+ rounds. Probably 60% of those thru the bottom barrel.

Thanks so much. Your video was very helpful. My firing pins were terribly carbon-fouled, and I had no clue how to clean them before watching your video. Reattaching the rockers was much more difficult for me than it appears to have been for you. I had to use both hands to press the rockers against the strikers hard enough to depress the striker springs while my wife hammered the rocker pin home. Was I doing something wrong? I suspect the gun wasn't cocked when I disassembled it. If my gun had been cocked, would that have saved me from having to depress the striker spring?

Did you return the top thumb lever to center? Not doing that would cause pressure as well - in the video I returned it to center using the bolt that holds the stock to the action. See this article for more details www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=262862

Yes sir,@@philpremschak5347 , I returned the top-lever to center with the through bolt, just as you instructed. I’m sure it would have been even more difficult if I had not. Thanks for the article you provided a link to. Great reference! I’m grateful to whoever took the considerable time it must have taken to write it.

Hey Phil I appreciate your video, I have an exact Browning Cynergy to that one but I'm having an issue with it where the trigger locks up as if the safety is applied and I have to open and close the gun before I can shoot, have you ever seen or heard of that before, please let me know I really need to get it fixed.
@philpremschak5347
@philpremschak5347 Жыл бұрын
I’ve not encountered that issue. I’d contact Browning and have them fix it; that issue sounds like something that should be under warranty.

Oh, linear hammers, travelling backwards. Interesting! And how are they cocked?
@robertwelch5584
@robertwelch5584 Жыл бұрын
They both get cocked when opening the action (mechanical triggers) and do not rely on the first round being fired to cock the second trigger. They are much faster that way.

Yes, it greatly reduced the light primer strikes. Still get them occasionally, but very rarely.

2:40 What's up with the sudden placement of blue tape????
@philpremschak5347
@philpremschak5347 Жыл бұрын
The video was my second pass at the process. The small pins beneath the blue tape came loose when I began using the punch/hammer. The tape held them in place the second time through.

Is this an older Cynergy? Did it solve your problem?

Mine is prob 10 yrs old. It did greatly reduce the occurrences. But I think I need to replace/clean the main springs to completely solve.

@@philpremschak5347 Both shoulder nicely. My "drawback" is i'm a left handed shooter, and most guns I pick up have some sort of right hand palm swell. Not a big deal, but it is an annoyance if i'm going to pay 2-3 thousand on a shotgun, which is another reason i like the Cynergy it has an ambi grip from the ones i've seen.
