I've had both a Browning 525 and a Beretta 686 and I couldn't hit toffee with the browning, the Beretta fitted straight away, much smoother recoil also. Browning traded in after a month, been a Beretta user ever since, upgraded to the DT10 several years back and never needed or wanted to change.

I have a 12 gauge silver pigeon 1 field model. My wife has a 20 gauge 725 browning sport. Both are very different guns in the way they feel, handle, and shoot. At 1k more, the Browning is the fancier gun. That said, I really like them both, but probably prefer the Baretta just slightly (and that could just be the difference in gauge and heft). I'm not an expert on these things, but I'm also extremely impressed by the fit and finish of the browning, and the quality of the wood.

Quite enjoyable video. Many good points made. Eye dominance can be a bit difficult to overcome. I did use a "blinder" for my left ear while learning to shoot right hand while recovering from a chest injury. I did manage a 21 with a 20 gauge during that time. Sadly I've only managed a 23 on two occasions LH with a 12 gauge. Are there two different speeds for skeet there?

Jonny and Lloyd - subscribe to you both for a long time now, a truly great combination of talented shooters - Lloyd is the reason I own both an ATA Sporting and a Benelli Supersport Carbon semi - and I still love them both after 2+ years shooting them both 50/50. Which do I prefer to take out?? - 55 to 45 the Benelli - it might me slightly more if cartridge shells spitting out of a semi all over the place didn't happen and need cleaning up on every stand (woodland shoot area, with lots of ground brush) - but I still do really enjoy shooting the ridiculously under-priced and underrated ATA Sporting - cheers Guys for a great video - great banter - more please! 👍👍

The main difference between them is the weight between your hands. With the Browning the action is heavier and the (perceived) weight less in the stock and (particularly with fixed chokes) the barrels. the Beretta has a more even weight balance. Its not that one is wrong or one right, but that difference explains a lot of the personal preference.

When I was first getting into shooting I was dead set on buying a 686 for my first gun resulting in being a "Beretta Man"....right up until I tried a Browning 525 which just felt and fitted me better. For most people I guess it comes down to off the peg gun fit first, which then turns into brand loyalty?

Another great vid, quick question though does the top lever on a beretta matter if it’s directly inline with the safety catch when closed compared to being slightly right of the safety catch when it’s a newer gun? Is this anything to worry about if directly inline? Will parts need replacing soon?

The Beretta! You can get extra barrels and have them fitted more easily than a Browning. You can get 28 gauge barrels to fit a 20 gauge frame and get 410 gauge barrels fitted to the 28 gauge frame. Cost about $1200 here in the US

I'm a browning user and have 3 Citoris. One simple factor got me into them. They build out of the box, high quality guns the fit really small shooters. The Beretta Vittorias are still almost 14" LOP but the Micro and Micro Midas guns from Citori are 13" LOP and can be made even less by simply replacing the butt pad with a thinner one.

Over the years I've shot American Trap with 3 different Browning Citoris. Tried a Beretta and at that time to me the action felt like a toy it was so small. Stayed with Browning. Once I held and shouldered a 725 Sporting Clays model I fell in love. The receiver is smaller than a standard Citori but feels solid and the gun points so well. I prefer mechanical triggers from shooting a Remington 3200 Special Trap model many years back. The Rem 3200 was a wonderfully comfortable design and I find the Browning 725 reminds me of that fit. I am left handed and had a laugh watching you guys.

Most Brownings are made in the same factory , at Miroku, in Japan. There are only a very few super high-end Belgian Brownings still being made (B15 etc.) They will feel very similar, many being made on the same tooling using the same metal, parts and wood.

I have 2 shotguns that are a 100% perfect fit for me. One is a 12 gauge Browning Citori Sporting Clays Lightning. The other is a Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III combo gun in 410/28 gauge. Also have a 686 in 20 and 12 gauge both with adjustable comb stocks that need some fine tuning for fit. While very close to fitting they are off just a bit and I'm still experimenting with the cast on the combs. Anyhow I have 1 foot firmly in the Beretta Camp and one foot firmly in the Browning camp and that wont ever change because I will never sell those perfect fits.

I was looking at Browning like "what an old clunker with a hole in the bottom of the action. Also they say that for short guys Berettas are more suitable. Then I tried the 525 Trap at the range and boy - I love it. I also tried Berettas 682 Gold and...well i can shoot with it but...I still prefer the Browning. But I realized that it has a customized/shortened stock that fits me. Strangely it fliped me to the camp Browning. :D

I brought my first gun just over a year ago a 686e having tried that and a browning I just found although both did fit me and I broke clays with both the beretta just felt better in my hands. A lot of it is mental, having confidence in your tools. If the gun feels good in your hands swings nicely and most importantly fits you then you shouldn’t have an issue. Although you do hear about new gun very occasionally syndrome where people who buy a new gun really like it the first few times they use it and can’t find fault as it’s brand new and looks pretty then when the novelty wears off they realise it doesn’t actually fit them that well and they made a mistake in buying it

Had two Browning Citori's in the past and they were great! Found myself shotgun-less and needed something for sporting clays and skeet- liked the feel of a new Beretta 686 SP1 32" sporter so I bought it. What a lemon! The receiver and barrels are miss-aligned causing binding on closing and the receiver has a cleft on one inside edge where it hits the monoblock and the monoblock is all scratched and banged up on that side. The USA official Beretta warranty gunsmiths looked at it and said " nothing we can do- send it back to Beretta"! Beretta , of course, do not answer any of my emails or calls- I will NEVER buy Beretta again, their QC sucks right now. Not happy at all! Back to Browning ASAP!

I reckon the Browning and the Miroku are basically the difference between the BMW and the Mercedes. You think it’s the same sh*t, but the first morning you have to drive uphill in the snow and you realize you should have bought the Audi. Just get the Beretta ;)

The 525 vs 686 argument needs to be put to bed. Both guns are perfect for starting out. As they said, buy the one that fits. Simple as that. I’ve tried both, and the 686 feels better for me.

The Browning 725 ergonomically just fits me better. Mine just happens to shot better with Briley chokes.

Well, i have just one year experience with guns. Bought my browning one year ago. I am very happy with it but i wish i knew some things back then.... For new shooters on limited budget, here are my two cents!: Dont buy a new gun ! Loads of used 686s, 525s or whatever out there for sale. Get one with the barrels you want. Remove the stock, make a new, fitted one and enjoy your new super gun with a cost just a bit more than a new gun! Dont get lost choosing between the brands caesar , browning, beretta etc. They dont matter if they come with their generic "fit all" stocks. Get a reliable used gun and get a custom stock

Japanese Brownings and Mirokus have always just felt “right” for me. I can shot okay with Berettas, but they just don’t point nor come up “right” on me. Chunky Brownings for a chunky bloke.

I have both and have shot each 10s of thousands of times. Ive had problems with the Browning and had to send it back for repairs. The Beretta has worked flawlessly and I believe it is better designed and built. BUT, the Browning shoots exactly where it’s supposed to and the Beretta does not. Both barrels shoot 4-5” low and one shoots 3-4” left. Beretta considers this acceptable. THAT is why I’ll never buy another Beretta.

You told him to close his right eye. You guys don’t shoot with both eyes open? I was taught early to do that. I think many, perhaps most, Americans were. Is that a UK vs US difference?

I shoot with both eyes open as do most. But when switching to your weak side it can help to close the strong eye or it will take over.

I seem to remember in one of Lloyd's older vids he says he likes a big lump of a gun. Me too. Berettas (in my limited experience) feel very light and toy like to me. And he likes BMW over Audi too. The man is clearly a genius.

And the winner is Miroku, an mk38 sport or mk10 sport, better guns than a 525, last a lifetime and are cheaper than both, 686 for me is overpriced for a grade 1 packet gun
