I was a student of Bruce Lee in Seattle when I was 14 years old. He taught me for three years in the basement of the Chinese Baptist church in Seattle's Chinatown. The church is still there. I was on his demonstration team that performed with him on local TV stations and conventions that he did to recruit new students. This was during the time he was a university student and was establishing his martial arts school. I also sparred with his wife Linda, who was his girl friend at that time. My father paid him $30 a month to teach me. I would meet with him 3 days a week for 2 hours of training per day. I sparred with him for at least a half hour during each class. While I could dominate the other students in the class, I could never come close to touching Bruce. The rest of the time was spent exercising (hundreds of push ups, leg exercises, knee bends, etc.), practice (doing 100 side kicks, punches, blocks) and then applying them to combat. He took a personal interest in me and I learned about his goals, aspirations and philosophies. I am now 73 years young and still perform the exercises that I learned from Bruce. I credit his training for keeping me agile and strong to this day. He was a great teacher, task master. and mentor to me. All of the admirers on this site are correct to call him the greatest martial artist who ever lived.

When i was 12 i side kicked a 350lb boxing back out of it's mooring and into a wall about 4 feet away at my then dojo,.. boxing bags are not meant for kicking, this is why this happened, braced kicking pads are for kicking, not a punching bag,.. I did 30 mins of freestanding horse-stance as punishment for doing so... Bruce Lee was an actor that studied martial arts, and never had more than an exhibition bout. @@dr.decker3623 you forgot to say that he was a teacher, supposedly for that reason certain people wanted him hurt or dead for teaching westerners in the sixties and he fought someone over that and supposedly after it was over was snuck up on and got his back broke? As to your comment about the punching bag maybe the bag you were hitting when you were 12 was not anchored right only your dad or whoever put it up would probably know that you might not have deserve to get in trouble for that also there are bags that hang from ceilings for all types of punching, kicking, elbowing whatever you prefer to do to it and usually will take the punishment if it is put up right some are called a heavy bag and I would definitely think the one Bruce Lee had hanging up was called more than that if it was hundreds of pounds there's another people to say a lot more about Bruce Lee especially that knew him well

@Christian Tena Guido I am realistic,if a guy like Peter Aerts (a former heavy weight Kickboxing champion) couln't side kick another guy and make him fly 3 or 4 meters i don't think a small guy like Bruce could do it. And if people compare him with MMA fighters it's unfair because he never had any fight in a circuit that didn't exist at his time. There are limits for what people can do. Bruce Lee was martial artist in movies and he created his own style but he isn't the father of martial arts like many people say,it's a fact that martial arts like Kung Fu were invented 1000 or 2000 years ago. I'm not trying to bash Bruce, the fact is i am a fan of Van Damme and Scott Adkins wich are both superior to Bruce in my opinion and i am not trying to make or believe fake superhuman claims of what they can do.

@@karatefightfitnessdrills5430 It's allways a debate. Hitting someone with a side kick and make him fly 2 or 3 meters seems to be movie stuff. I don't believe Bruce Lee could do it,he would need to be superhuman. He was fit but a small guy. Van Damme,Dolph Lundgren,MJW and Scott Adkins are more powerfull so maybe they could do that to someone with no trainning and who knows? I think a 720° kick is far more dangerous than a side kick.

If best isn't good enough, focus on improving during every practice session. I have been fortunate to have great mentors. I may never be the best I can be, but always the focus is on improvement. Am I ever to be like Bruce? Maybe not, but I am better than I used to be and this is good direction.

Bruce didn’t become the way he was without much learning & training. Anyone can see his demonstrations were super fast & powerful. He also able to use weaponry pretty well like nunchucks, long stick, sticks…etc. No one has Bruce’s skills & abilities.

Yeah but I call BS on the 700 LBS bag hitting the ceiling. Tbh I don't see him being able to win in the current UFC. I see him for the legend that he is just not the tried and battle tested UFC fighters of the modern day that have taken all the great martial arts and put them together. I think the UFC was his true dream and we can thank him for his part in mixed martial arts. Fastest perhaps still to this day, and I can't say he wouldn't be able to fight in the UFC, but his reputation precedes him. I think he smiles every time a new UFC match begins, he bred a new era of fighting and fighters, more intricate and well balanced than even himself. Much love to him.

Having said that, I refuse to believe he kicked a 700lbs bag to the ceiling when: 1) There's footage of him kicking what looked like a 150lbs bag and it didn't hit the ceiling. And 2) We know that heavyweights much heavier than Bruce (e.g. Marciano - admittedly a much smaller heavyweight, possibly closer to a cruiserweight - and Tyson) trained with 300lbs bags and, from the footage of them with even 200lbs bags, they're nowhere close to knocking it to the ceiling. Again, I know a punch is weaker than a kick but we're talking a bag that supposedly weighed over 3 times more than the bags we have footage of Tyson hitting. And don't get me wrong, when you see footage of even trained guys like Rogan smashing 150-200lbs bags into walls with one kick, it does make you wonder, especially given Bruce was extremely strong, explosive and quick for his size, a true man of marble. And I love that someone is working to carry on his incredible legacy rather than work to tear it down but I wish people wouldn't perpetuate disillusionment in his capabilities as I feel like it only invites disbelief in the utterly ludicrous things this brilliant man genuinely achieved in the realms of mind, body and spirit.

@@J1283-s1k He doesn't look impressive at all hitting the bag. Bruce Lee had never fought any known top fighters, he had never competed. He had a big ego and a bad temper. He was obsessed with fighters and fighting styles. But yet he never fought against top fighters. and there are NO records or films of his fights, except HollyWood movies where they made him to a superman. He didn't want to compete or fight anyone because if he was to lose, which he would have against real fighters, it would've ruined his image, and his big ego.

Fake and gay. Bruce Lee was an actor and had no real recorded fights. People who say his kicks are too fast to see don't understand the limitations of old filming and how you can change frame rate to make something look much faster/slower. You can't hit faster than you can see, because humans can see roughly 1/220th of a second (according to www.visiondirect.co.uk/blog/how-fast-can-we-see), so the only reason you wouldn't be able to see his hits is if the frame rate was tampered with. To put that in perspective: "That’s 17500 meters every second or 38146 mph! At this point the ball would be moving way, way faster than the speed of sound, and would almost certainly have crumpled up into a little fireball before a goal was even scored." i.e. to be able to strike faster than the human eye can see, his kicks/punches would literally cause sonic booms breaking the sound barrier (not just slightly breaking the sound barrier, or even by a few times like a supersonic jet, at 38146 mph, his strikes would be travelling at Mach 49.5, almost 50x the speed of sound). Please stop being fanboys and do some simple research and think about physics before you make Bruce Lee into some inhuman godlike fighter. Stop watching Dragon Ball Z please.

One of the things Bruce lee did, he exercised a lot of his muscles and knew how to engage them at the right time. In boxing, when I throw a left hook or a right, if I flex my muscles at the last second and pull back at impact, it hurts more and it feels like a sledge hitting something. Now imagine this guy having conscious control of the muscles in his body, having practiced this “heavy hitting” for his whole life bc when I throw it, I can only do it a couple times before im spent, this man does it for a lifestyle.

Not a braggart, or macho man with a swollen ego, just a true lover of the disciplines , and he was extremely open minded too .... A lot of his famous speed also came from removing almost all "telegraphing" from his punches and kicks. He goes from neutral positions to striking his target incredibly fast not because he moves his fists or feet at a higher velocity than a human, but because there's little to no time and energy wasted in chambering attacks, drawing back to punch, or wasting even a fraction of a second in taking his strking surface in ANY direction other than toward the thing he wants to hit. Like anybody else, his speed was at the peak of what could be trained-and the extent to which he kept his body fat almost unhealthily low to maximize that also made a difference. But it wasn't supernatural. It was within the range of what other humans can achieve. Where he made his real gains is in how he refined his technique to be more efficient. If you hit a stopwatch and say "go," then yes, Bruce Lee strikes first 99% of the time. But there are many, many factors that go into that, and being able to move his hands and feet faster than most people was only one part of his speed to target.

I'm not a mathematician but if I'm calculating right, Lee is generating over 10,000 LBS of force to DOUBLE it over and sending it to the ceiling. A kick would have to do MORE than 700lbs to send it to the ceiling. It's logical math. Weighs 700lb. Must require more than 700 to compete the task of ceiling it. Correct me if I'm wrong because I keep hearing 500 which is not enough to double over a 700 to the ceiling.

We studied his stuff at our club and we had a driving side kick just like that at a 210 pound bags that you can move. But +3 times more it's quite amazing. He was like a bullet when you hit someone like that, that force just shocks your whole body. My instructor had like a 350 to 400lb bag that was filled with concrete. We hated that bag. It was a "Hadar", we called it hate Hadar the horrible or slammy Hadar, LoL. So I have no doubt that Bruce Lee himself had a 700 pound bag don't knock it till you've tried it!

BISMILLAH Must Read you will know best thing here , if you ignore this message then you will think about it , what was written in that ↓↓↓whole message -- press-> Before Your Death know your creator and follow the order of your creator = > You cant make creator but he created you = > No One created ALLAH/GOD , actually creator is beyond from our imagination , beyond from our limits , beyond from our thinking , ability etc etc = > we have limits on everything , we can only see Signs of GOD in this world GENERALLY people do God Vs Science = > science is to know about things which is made by GOD and Human's science have limits to know things , even humans can't know fully about created things and matter properties , then how can they know about the creator ALLAH looks like ? Signs Of Allah/God/Creator == > As we know " Energy Can't Be Created Nor Be Destroyed But May Be Transfer From One Body To Another " who made this energy , from where it comes from . This is the ALLAH/CREATOR/GOD who made energy and everything , he made also that thing which can not be see by our eyes , listen by our ear, or we cant even think and imagine about them. there are so many things which are hidden bcz god knows everything and we can't even imagine that things. 1 ) Allah made you from weak little disdained liquid from your (dad, mom) and that Turned into bones, continuesly pumping heart 2 ) and creator created a clean body from that , and everything is in perfect place like , brain , tongue , heart , liver , and there size , ear , nose , mouth, two kidney and their size , your lungs ,your lungs size etc etc what a perfection , also this is the sign of creator Allah . 3 ) Allah gives you a identity from that liquid drops , example -> your brain a complex part of body and made very small small nerves in it -> your face is different from whole world people, and give you eyes which sees and give you different fingerprint every finger have different fingerprint from your every finger and every finger have different fingerprint from whole world people fingerprints. 4 ) suppose if GOD not gives you nose then when you eat food then you cant take breath , think how the perfection of our body is made by our creator ALLAH . 5 ) SEE egg of hen it is dead but allah create and make in it leg ,eye , ear , heart etc and convert it in to a living creature , and that creature know how to eat , speak , drink , walk this is sign of that ALLAH the CREATOR of everything . 6 ) ALLAH/GOD Made ant , how small it is and it have mind to think , small eyes to see who fit eye lens in it , and have more and more sense than humans , can identify easily where is the sweet and meat . ALLAH made more smaller things than ant , spider etc etc these are signs of Allah . 7 ) think about hair cells , your hand hairs have limit of increasing , you eye hairs have limit of increasing , your head hairs have different limits so this shows that they are made up of same cells but controlling not by you and not by that cells but your creator Allah . 8 ) we say speed light is fastest , ( after researching to a limit by scientists ) before research they were thinking about any other thing, may be Tomorrow they will think about any other thing. = > now we should think the creator ALLAH who made light and properties of every matter , how much ALLAH the creator is faster and powerful . is it a coincidence no bro no, try to understand. don't think this is a message only, take it serious. and so plz minimum one time read Quran it is a word of God, check my playlist , = > Do You Think That you are controlling YOUR SELF ? 1) Your heart is running can you stop it now ? NO can you live without oxygen ? NO can you live without food and water ? NO (bcz you are not controlling your self because it is controls by your creator ALLAH) 2) You need to sleep to recover your self , if you can control your self then stop this process you cant do it . Allah - Arabic Word ] Creator Name Iswar - Hindi Word. ] in Diff Lang God - English Word ] = > THINK ABOUT when people start to imagine CREATOR ALLAH, they started to make their own GOD, Note - we can't imagine creator . for example = > they make pictures, sculpture etc and pray to that pictures can you make god ? no " you cant see God in this world , you can see God after this world if you obey God/ALLAH " is God a human being ? no = > About Some created God By Humans, some fake god require to eat food , some human worship stone and some worship real god but not follow his order . If God eat food then have call of nature means need toilet to poop and pee . IT IS NOT THE QUALITY OF GOD so remove these fake gods now . = > WHO ARE MESSENGERS Allah send messages to their messenger ( Jesus , Mohammad , Adam , Moses , ABRAHAM etc ) so that , they tell that message to the people , bcz ALLAH/CREATOR wants to check people , who follow his order and who don't. we can't say these messengers are son of GOD. for example IN CHRISTIANITY, They Pray To Jesus as son of God. = > we cant pray to Messengers like Jesus , Mohammad , Adam , Moses , ABRAHAM etc but we should pray to the creator ALLAH/God in the way of his messenger, now last messenger is Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam . = > Even we cant worship muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. we can worship only one creator ALLAH . if we worship Muhammad then we will be in Hell . = > Keep in mind that Muhammad cannot make a single fly, = > we should follow last messenger Muhammad and should obey him. ( now last book is Quran in which ALLAH'S words are written) for guidance of people. JESUS is neither a god nor a son of God, = > JESUS WAS A MESSENGER OF ALLAH before jesus birth , people follow whom , before prophet jesus people follow prophet of that time like Adam , Moses , Noah , Abraham etc . These were the messenger of Allah at their time on earth now last messenger is Muhammad , you should follow Muhammad now. 1 ) ACCORDING TO CHRISTIANITY = > when people tryied to torture JESUS and want to beat him and kill him even they were thinking to hang on neils etc etc etc is it a quality of god that any one can beat him and to nail , jail and hang him , torture him. 2) Jesus Eat Food When He Was Hungry is it a quality of god ? ( Hungry God ) if he eat food then also do toilet for pee and poop at that time no toilet seat was there so they used to do that in hidden in grass and back of some trees and stones etc is it a quality of God ? No = > why some people wants to kill Jesus and want to hang on neils ? because Jesus called people towards Allah/God the creator of everything . so the ruler of that time thinking that jesus will destroy our king rulings , bcz people wanted to follow of true path of the creator . = > Some people says JESUS DIE FOR OUR SINS This is totally wrong if someone rape your wife , sister , mother and murder your family . Then , will you say , he will be in heaven bcz Jesus died for his sins ? Jesus had ever say that "enjoy your life do whatever you want , kidnap a young girl and rape her and do robbery , do murder etc etc And I want to die for your sin then you will be in heaven , and hang me on Neil etc etc " NO don't make your on thoughts . THIS IS INJUSTICE this is your thought , and this thought is wrong = > COMMANDMENT Of Creator Is . 1 ) Allah is only one god and prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam Allah's Last messenger 2 ) Namaz/prayer according to prophet muhammad sallallahu alehi vasallam . if you ignore these 5 times prayer then you will be sinful , if you do your own type prayers then this will be rejected bcz you have to follow messenger not created your own and obey Allah then you will be in paradise inshallah " REMEMBER you have to go back to that creator ALLAH who is the master of all " = > Islam is for everyone not only for Muslim bcz muslim means submit to one creator when you were child then you only submitted your self to your creator you were muslim . it doesn't not matter who are you now and from where you belong and what you followed in past ? DONT JUDGE MUSLIM to see islam, to see islam you should read QURAN and sunnah of prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam . in islam worship only creator one Allah in the way OF his messenger Muhammad = > YOU should follow ALLAH the creator and it will be true for you If You Follow It. if you do not follow then you reject it , you ignore it and you reject the creator . Allah says in Quran chapter 2 Ayatul kursi " Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge-except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest..

God i repent of all the sins I have done. i ask for your forgiveness and i ask that all of my sins may be cleansed by the blood of Jesus. thank you Lord for the blood of Jesus that my sin are now washed away. and i thank you that you have forgiven me, Jesus I accept you into my life and heart. thank you God for you son and that I'm now a child of God. thank you that my name is in the book of life and I'm now going to heaven, i will worship you and you only Lord, i now declare that Jesus is my personal Lord and savior, Thank you God for my salvation. for further guidance into your Christianity start to follow the ways of God and don't go backs to the ways you used to live, drinking alcohol, smoking, and all sins. but follow the ways of Christ you can start by buying and reading the bible and asking God for a church for you, you can start being guided by the Family of God Church kzbin.info

One, there are people who are gifted and Two, there are people who have the super work ethic. Even if someone has a super work ethic and doesn't have God-given genius, he won't be an elite. Or, even if someone is gifted and doesn't have the work ethic, he likewise won't become elite. I just read "Q Factor' on what makes a great quarterback. What is that 'It' factor? Great ones are just born with it and happen to love what they're doing. Look at Tom Brady. His entire life revolved on training.

Amazing originality: I watched all his movies; and to continue to watch them every now and then. It is so sad that his life was cut short.

@@GodCarnage fully aware of his creation of Jeet Kune Do and the many styles he grabbed the best attributes from and incorporated them into what is known as “The Way Of The Intercepting Fist”.. it within this genius… to dare to go against the laws of traditional styles is what makes him next level to me… to have no style…. As a style… that’s why many JKD practitioners may fight differently… for the style accommodates ones own strengths and weaknesses. Bruce was not afraid to break tradition. By “absorbing what is useful, rejecting what is useless, and adding what is specifically your own.”

Jet Li by a longshot. Bruce Lee was a very good martial artist and streetfighter. Jet Li in the early 80s was absolutely brilliant to see in action when he competed in Wushu tournaments.
