The Accident of Birth album is shockingly good. For me, this and Chemical Wedding are the pinnacle of heavy metal.
@LeatherRebel752 жыл бұрын
I can still remember listening to this album for the first time and being absolutely shocked. I knew from that moment that I was listening to something special. Being that it was the late 90's and during a weird time for metal. Bruce Dickinson teaming up with Adrian Smith and Roy Z was a brilliant move. "Accident of Birth" and later "A Chemical Wedding" took the muscular heaviness of the best 90's groove metal, with the thick, chunky detuned guitars, and fused it perfectly with the melodic sense of drama of traditional metal. Bruce was able to do what Iron Maiden refused to do and what Judas Priest failed to do successfully: he updated his sound for a new generation while still staying true to his traditional metal roots.

You're absolutely right. Those two albums...I can't count how many times I've been listening to them thru the years. Masterpieces and two of the best ever done if you ask me.
@keefriff992 жыл бұрын
You really could make a case that Roy Z helped usher in a second golden era for metal by resuscitating the careers of Bruce and Rob, which led to reunions for their respective bands. I know that's a major oversimplification of how the metal scene came back, but it was a big part of it. I was too young to experience the ‘80s but the metal scene resurgence in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s was quite terrific as well.

Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are both absolutely brilliant. No wonder the Maiden camp suggested a reunion after this one-two punch. Bruce’s voice was reinvigorated…the time off did it wonders. And thank god Adrian came back as well…his contributions to the band during the reunion era have been incalculable.
