@ddandymann do you recommend mounting bindings dead center or a couple cm back?
@ddandymann9 ай бұрын
@@joedemaio1342 Depends on your level and where you want to ski. If you're a beginner freeskier or want to ride a lot of power go 2cm back from centre, otherwise go dead centre.

@@joedemaio1342 Bought my 1st pair of twin tips Volkl Revolt 104s last summer, center mounted. I'm rather surprised that it doesn't much affect me going from my more back mounted Stance 96s to the center mounted Revolt. I was surprised how fast I am in the slush or mashed potatoes on my Volkls. My new young friends say on center mounts it's more like a surfy sensation. All I know is I was ripping on my Volkls this spring, and I never imagined spring skiing as fast as I was 2 wks ago on them!

I've got you so beat, I'm nearly 53 didn't do my 1st grab until Feb 2023! I didn't learn to ski until 24, the jumps & parks are at SUCH another level now. I hadn't been in a terrain park in 20 yrs until I started teaching my 15 yr old niece to ski last season. She liked my jumping and asked me to learn some tricks. Honestly 20 yrs ago I thought boxes & rails & grabs were rather dumb and pointless. While at my age I'm rather scared of rails, I now get that Freestyle-Freeride is about Pushing Yourself, overcoming your Fears, responding to the Challenge, and making more friends while at it! I'm a huge fan of Stomp It tutorials I even bought their Beginner Freestyle package before it went free but no regrets! Impressing my niece and my new friends at Squaw Valley (don't call me Palisades LOL!) w/my newly acquired limited Trick Bag is more than payback! I had goals of becoming proficient at the Spreadie, Safety, minor 180s, and Shifty this last season. I nailed all except the Shifty this season. I really struggled w/the concept of Shifty, until I got new boots last month. Going from 90 to 140 flex I found it much easier to get my skis UP, I feel like I only have to flick them up to grab now. While I never hit Shifty in 2023-24, in the last few wks I started hitting a 90 on certain jumps, and flicking the skis up in the back for a Toxic tailgrab, a most awesome and unexpected development! Anyways I meant to say much as I love Stomp It, they didn't provide on snow practice tips like you for Shifty, I find those very helpful. My ski season ended 10 days early after I back seated a jump I got more than expected air on May 18th, and screwed the landing, mildly spraining my good knee. But I can't wait to start training for 24/25 season now! Anyways I'm pretty sure I'm gonna join the program, I like the idea of your Freestyle Community. I find my new young ski baller friends at Squaw are of a similar mindset. Sure we raz and harass each other but we also root hard and support each other in our skiing. It's just that I recognize I'm old in the game and not aspiring to be a Pro or Sponsored. I just want to keep hanging w/my new young friends and improve the Stizzi in my skiing. Thanks Peace Out Bro keep on Sending It!

I'm a bit younger at 48. 😂 Started skiing at 35. Learning from trial and error and KZbin. Always fascinated with jumps. Had a bad one off a small side hit and busted both my shoulders. Made up my mind to learn it properly and signed up for a Stompit fs camp! Had a final goal to end with a 360s but only manage several 180s, Japan grabs, shiftie, spreadie.. Gonna keep working on my 180, hopefully 360s, improve switch, learn buttering the upcoming season! Same here. Terrified of rails too after witnessing some falls ending up with broken ribs. . Someday maybe.. 😬
@anthonyalpha41185 ай бұрын
@@eddieyap7782 Right on man! Thanks for reading my book there lol! keep training/working bro you'll get there. I kinda had the same experience, I started grabbing 22/23, then started researching the 180 on YT, which lead me to Stomp It, which really opened my eyes. I had pretty decent jumping technique but learning the Popping principles really upped my game coming into 23/24. If you haven't gotten the Booster straps I really suggest doing so, my mind is still blown by my Pop power now. Never imagined I'd be jumping like this or learning tricks at my age, but my skiing hasn't peaked YET so I'm going for it!

Having perused your website and reading about Sharing the Wins, I have to share this. On May 13th skiing Squaw w/a big pack of 15 or more. There were 5-6 who live or work near Squaw and they're certainly the best & fastest. Proud to say I'm the best-fastest of the non-Tahoe skiers in the pack. It wasn't intended, but I somehow managed to catch up to the fast 4 20-someting yr old shredders. They were waiting for the next lift when I was spending in and they were CHEARING me on the catch up. I'm STILL stoked when I remember this! It's been a LONG time since I've gotten cheers, and this OG is just flattered and mind-blown to make friends, keep up, and ski w/real Squaw skiers. This is next level shiz that I never once Dreamed of! I never imagined starting to Send would open so many doors and introduce me to so many wonderful like-minded people. Thrill of a LIFETIME!

Been skiing for 15+ years and I finally started doing some baby jumps (about a foot and a half of air) and rode a box (at a very slow speed) on my last ski day lmaooo. I was just carefully winging it. But this is so informative! I need to work on my pops. Do you think it’s necessary or beneficial to trick with poles? I really don’t like using them but I need them to scoot on flat terrain sometimes, otherwise I just hold them in one hand so I can use my arms to balance, maneuver, for momentum etc
