with some kerosene and some fuel treatment, you should be able to go ahead and run the old diesel, especially since 60 gallons of it can be hard to get rid of and it should still have the sulfur benefits.

I can understand the Air ride, but this truck was so cheap that it lacks cab air ride, and the rough ride is more likely due to not having cab air bags than the rear leaf springs not being air ride. My truck had air ride for the rear axles, but that was solely to keep the stuff in a dry box happy going down the road, it was the cab air, and the seat air that kept the truck from being a back breaker all the time.

A trick that is worth trying with damaged fuel tanks is to drop them out, empty them, plug off the various fuel line and vent ports and then use compressed air to re-inflate them. Often they'll just pop back into their original shape due to the memory in the metal of its original pressed shape. It might be a little more awkward on this one with the dent being right at the back where the flange for the joint between the outer skin and the back panel is, but it might be possible to dress that back into shape when the dent is out. Be careful though, with it being on a joint there is a danger that if you work it too much then you could end up cracking the seam and giving yourself a fuel leak when the tank is full... It sounds odd, but I've seen it work well a number of times, including on a Ford Granada estate fuel tank that had collapsed due to the car being run when the tank vent was blocked. The resultant vacuum crushed the tank down to about a quarter of its capacity. Re-inflating it put it back to its original shape and all but half a gallon of its original capacity...

As a former diesel mechanic working for a company at the time was 100% International, I have a LOT of time on the 9670's. In fact, our company had a prototype 9670 before they were released, and while we still were using the 4070b models. One of the things that was on the "new" 9670 and later the 9700 was a sliding tube arrangement that extended the oil fill out from the side access door to fill oil. I assure you that we didn't have to use funnels and extension tubes, nor did our drivers!! You might check and see if your's is still there, and maybe frozen, OR, the last owner removed it. It would be worth doing some research and either getting it working again or installing another one! (BTW -- look for it to rotate clockwise 90 degrees as you're pulling it out. It should be two-piece aluminum with a guide pin.

Hello from the UK! I’m loving watching this old semi being brought back to life: Extreme Recycling: rebuild and reuse. If I may offer my two cents: Don’t repaint it. Keep the patina - buff the stripes then lacquer it all till the finish is so deep you could swim in it! Polished wheels will look cool too. And as others have said, don’t stretch it (asking for trouble), just use the Volvo axles - don’t make work for yourself. Spend the time fabricating a monster smoke stack. Ice Man needs his own Channel: each episode he just polished something random till it looks brand new - millions of subscribers waiting for that. Keep doing what you your doing and look forward to seeing how this all pans out! ✌🏼

I would get a nice Classic Sun visor for the Cab and then I would use the brackets between the Yellow Chicken lights to bolt on a set of High-powered High beams and place them evenly spaced between the Chicken lights and of course some BIG Truck horns. I would get a Top peace made for the cab extention that follows the Shape of the Cab, it would give good Shelter for the weather elements and even better if you build a Frame almost the size of the cab and bolt that frame the chassis as close as possible to the Cab it self, it would give you even more Options for Toolbox'es to store your Tools and Equipment 'With proper Lock and Key! I would also personally get Old school LED Taillights but with Built-in Yellow Indicator light and Break lights, and of course 3 powerful Working lights in the middle bolted to the Top of that frame sitting right underneath the Top part to the Cab Extentions you got fabricated. It would look cool and give you extra Safty with Taillights mounted up High underneath the Top cab extention. Just my thoughts. Sincerely. I am sure you are savy on “cutting” the frame right, the frame is an integral part of the suspension, and should not be modified ever.

People stretch trucks all the time. I'm taking my 275 wb out to 315 soon and lots of shops do it.

The moment I heard "cut the frame and stretch it" and "Volvo rear end" I stopped the video to come to the comment section and sure enough I think most pretty much agree NOT to cut it up and for god's sake, don't throw some Volvo parts in the mix. Keeping it;s integrity and keeping it original ... Volvo parts are not original to this truck! never were, never will. Don't ruin a classic just because you got Volvo stuff for cheap. Rather leave this truck original but please don't ruin it's originality.

You guys understand that there aren't Volvo rears and IHC rears, right? Rearends were probalby Rockwell or Eaton. Swapping out the rears isn't really adding Volvo parts to the truck. It's no big deal. And I don't think keeping the old CO IH original is that big a deal. It's not like it's a collector 359 Pete or something. The guy should make it how he wants it.
