2 videos in under a month? Bruce, you're spoiling us! I actually like this idea more than having buttons in your pocket. However, having something in your ear at all times, would defeat the purpose for me. But, it's definitely better than hooking up 10+ Google Homes around the property

:) 1 video a month seems a good fit for my low key vlogging hobby ambition. I wouldn't wear an earbud just to do voice commands either. But I love to listen to podcasts, so I usually have a bud in one ear when I'm alone and away from my desk.

@@BruceWinter That makes perfect sense :) Phones have also gotten a lot better at triggering "Hey, Google". I can keep it in my pocket most of the time.

Water Light? Curious to hear how you did that? Alway great to see your new videos. Thanks for taking the time to share some of your knowledge,

Thanks for the thanks. I bought that waterlight 7 years ago for $150. Looks like it is still available, but now for $200: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YKXIZS

I am missing Voice input in my house, but i fear Cloud based Assistant, and opensource solution really arent' ready for another language that English :( I have a short list to try, but damn i wish i could do that ... Do you do Halloween prep in your house ? i would love to see that ;)

Sadly, we live on a dead end street at the top of a hill, so we don't get any Halloween visitors. I've had lots of fun with tech-inspired-scariness in previous homes.

Hi Bruce, love your videos. Have you tried a software called Home Assistant? I am using it for my open source smart home stuff. I know there is an opensource voice assistant for it called "Almond" however I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks Stranger :) I have been using Home Assistant for a couple of years, works great! It has early integration for Ada and Almond, open source programs for doing voice recognition and virtual assistant tasks. They don't share information with big brother, so are good for privacy, but they are also not yet as powerful or seamless as Google Assistant or Alexa. I don't have privacy concerns (yet, but I probably should), so I have not tried them yet.

I'm deeply disappointed. Disappointed you don't have millions of view! The work you have done is amazing, I love how you automate your house, love your projects and ideas. I understand that this is just a hobby for your soul, but I'm sure if you would hire an editor and work a little bit on planning the scripts for the videos, your channel would grow to those number of views in under a year! In any case, I wish you all the best and will ring the bell not to miss on new uploads :)

Thanks! I suspect you are right, that if I invested more time to get better polished videos I could grow the views, but I don't have the ambition to do that. There are lots of video creators out there who are creating much better videos. I'm happy with the few enthusiastic subscribers I have, like you :)
