They are all getting paid for sure. So you could call them pros. However, for the average Player it's not possible to make a good living in germqny from your salery alone. You need price money from big tournaments, or Military sponsorships. Some of these women work Part time as well. You are not playing women table tennis bundesliga for the money. You do it because it's your passion.

I imagine it is more semi-pro in that few of them can actually make a living playing table tennis -- they have other jobs too

Ich habe mir jetzt viele Spiele vom Annett auf KZbin angesehen. Sie ist eine tolle Spielerin. Was mir aber aufgefallen ist, egal ob sie gewinnt oder verliert, bei dem obligatorischen Shakehand nach dem Spiel schaut sie NIE der Gegnerin in die Augen, oder hat gar ein freundliches Lächeln übrig. Das lässt sie unsympathisch wirken. Da kann sie sich mal ne Scheibe von den Männer abschauen, da ist respektvollen Augenkontakt selbstverständlich
