18:07 20:06 It is still hard to believe the size of the wisteria vines and the devastation that has occurred. And as always the clearing and burn is no less gratifying. Another section of the Old Byrd Farm that is added to the overall layout and viewpoint from out here in YT land. Pointing out the chicken coop, shed, house really helps with orientation. Can you consider taking drone video of the farm while the leaves are gone? A complete tour, like the house. Excellent to see more progress!!! 👍👍❣️❣️

Robert, I grew up on a 27 acre farm which I thought was big when I was little, but, as far as I can see, this looks ten times the size. We had 6 buildings and our Victorian farmhouse which dated back to the late 19th or early 20th century. Your property will be amazing when you get it cleared. Can't Wisteria vines be used as firewood? Cheers, Rik Spector
@MarciaShackelford-st5bt10 ай бұрын
My flunky guess is it would be pretty punky, very soft. It would probably burn fast but not be all that good for fires in woodstoves, for long lasting overnight fires. You usually season wood before you burn it and as Robert has shown it just gets all soft and brittle. Just my take. We heated with wood for 27 years.

You may be able to get an attachment to go on your tractor that pulls trees out by the roots . Daniel Arms from Arms family homestead on KZbin uses one on his tractor.

I saw a video of a field clearing. He had a mulcher attached to his tractor. About the size of the brush hog. It was eating through small stumps all the way to bare dirt. Thought of you with the vines on the ground
@ppurgett10 ай бұрын
The vines are fibrous and have a tendency to jam up machines, that's why he tries to use the rake and pulls them out

My late father would have been out there with his chain saw, cutting down dead trees and breaking them down for fire wood for his wood burning stove, an incert that he had placed in front of the fireplace. He even tried burning grapevines, don't do that, they burn too hot.
@judithburdine491010 ай бұрын
I thought you said wisteria would grow again if you cut it. I could be wrong.
@tinacasarotto12649 ай бұрын
It will. He just keeps mowing it over. Eventually, it will starve due to no foliage to feed it. It will take years to completely get rid of.
