Playing with my brushos and the marion smith color lab powders is fun! I have added shimmer by using perfect pearls in the water, or adding a little iridescent watercolor medium to the wet pigment on the paper. Great cards Lindsay! Stencils are AMAZING, but I never would have thought of using these with stamps. I also never thought of using them with my almost never used texture paste. Thank you!

Hi, I have the Brushos but had not used them much until I made them up into sprays with water and a little rubbing alcohol. You only need a tiny amount of powder. The spray will not be multicoloured but the colours are vibrant and beautiful. But I will definitely be trying these techniques with the powders. Many thanks for the great ideas.

I really enjoyed seeing how much you played and experimented. I have a winter sleigh stamp with presents and birds, it’s so busy, I don’t really know how to colour it, it just looks bad when I colour everything. Maybe it would look better with a lose style like you did on the Paris scene.

I like the texture paste backgrounds best. I've played with texture paste both the expensive art store stuff and the dollar store spackle and caulking, and there really isn't much difference. I've never used the powders with the texture paste, so I'll be trying that soon. Using versamark on a stamp before sprinkling with the powder is genius. Love those backgrounds too.

If you disintegrate your paper with water, it would likely still work well as a texture. Just tear up the good parts and use them as a frame or something. This is all pretty. I wonder how much different these water color powders are from the old powder dyes I have....
@thefrugalcrafter4 жыл бұрын
Its similar to fine powder dyed that don't containt salt. For instance rit die doesn't react like this but the fine dye powders in the dye kits work great (the soda ash 8s separate in those dyes so you just get the color) give it a try:)
@ArtBrain4 жыл бұрын

to lift colour of the page in a pattern colour the page and let it dry then with a stencil you can remove colour with bleach on a sponge.... the more colour you put down first the greater the contrast will be then you lift the colour of with the bleach. tfs

So, I drilled holes in some old ink jet cartridges and got the coloured powder out. I mixed it with alcohol, and spread it around on a page. Once it dried, the powder had just turned back into powder. Any ideas on what to mix it with or spray it with to get it to stay put on the page?
@thefrugalcrafter4 жыл бұрын
Please be careful, if it is a powder it might be toner and not ink. Ink jet cartridges use liquid ink
