Hi Mischa; I appreciate your view and experience with sporty cars. If you could choose to own a 991.2 GT3 or 992.1 GT3 to drive on street (fun on weekends) and of course drive on Nürburgring > which one would you take and why (let's forget the price difference between 991.2 and 992)? I saw online (Rennlist) a lot of people prefer the 991.2 GT3 for having a more pure driving + more involvement and wondered if you share this opinion? Thank for the reply ;)
@MarcusSteiger2 ай бұрын

@juwonie_04262 ай бұрын
Another important aspect that Misha forgot to mention in the video is the weight. Thanks to all the new safety and environmental regulations of the EU, Porsche had to embody a significant amount of extra body reinforcing parts, various catalysts etc, which all contributed to the increase in weight. I think this is the reason for Porsche’s justification of the introduction of Weissach Package in a non-RS car for the first time. The lightest possible configuration of the 992.2 GT3 (Weissach Package + Magnesium wheels) is actually heavier than the 992.1 GT3, which wasn’t even offered with lightweight options like the Weissach package (albeit the number is pretty much negligible). This means that the 992.2 GT3 without the WP is significantly heavier than the 992.1 GT3. Considering the amount of changes Porsche applied to the 992.2 GT3, the price increase is simply not justifiable.

2:17 @mgcharoudin2 Porsche doesn't really _have_ to meet any CO2 emission targets. The price increase already pretty much over-compensates potential fines! E.g. even if the increase in CO2 emissions from 992.1 GT3 to 992.2 GT3 would apply on average to Porsche's whole fleet sold in EU, an additional fine Porsche would have pay, would be covered multiple times by the price increase from 992.1 GT3 to 992.2 GT3. The only problem is that Porsche would have to start paying fines for all EU cars sold, once the exceed the overall fleet average limit. But they also increase their prices for all models step by step anyway. So, for a manufacturer selling cars on an average fleet price level like Porsche, emission fines are a non-argument. Bottom line: Blaming emissions regulations is a flawed argument for castrating high performance cars.

I think it's pretty much symbolic for the state of the industry. Nobody really knows what to do in terms of development, since it turns out that the "transformation" to 100% electric vehicles didn't work out as promised. EVs are not being bought, but the legislation is still there, so the manufacturers can either invest tons of money into cars that nobody wants, or they can run into penalties imposed by the lawmakers. It's a problem that has to be engaged culturally and politically. The dogma of "sustainability" as the prime directive has to be broken at some point, and people need to remember that freedom is more important eventually, and that it is the most important hill to die on. There are no inherent limits to both bureaucracy and sustainability, and any kind of automotive fun is pretty low on the food chain of things that are going to be considered expendable for the "greater good" of the Sustainable, Net Zero, Circular, Stakeholder Economy.

Your opinion is true and correct, But I will add mine if we will see it from Porsche perspective, first is the power, its pretty clear due to the emissions the power or the torque will go down little bit , the solution is shorter gear ratios, from our experiment the ST, then for stock application it will feel faster due to shorter ratios, then for the emission, let us say that not small number of the costumers who use them cars on the track will remove some of the emission to higher flow cats and our mission to pass emission has been done, for the ppl who will put high flow cats the will feel the difference due to the camshaft from the RS, with this tuning this platform will put easy 30+ hp, then the control arms if the are RS then the normal GT3 did share fantastic parts in smaller car and size! Better cooling and shorter ratios also a mission to give costumers who have the 992.1 the chance to upgrade. Now the ST yes its special but ppl will feel that the new 992.2 touring will do the same, but let us not forget the lower weight and less sound deadening + the most important part is without the rear steer and single mass flywheel. ST platform is the after market part for your normal GT3 if its normal in any shape or form. ST did provide us the delete kit of the rear steer, and the single mass flywheel. It’s a business at the end. and they want the costumers to have aftermarket part they say that some did pay enormous amount for the GT4 to have shorter gear ratios so the did it for GT3. Factory Part “OEM”.

I dont understand feeling "disappointed". Its still a great car, and it HAS been improved in incremental ways. The sorter gearing for instance is a huge win from a small change. The backseats in the Touring variant really improves the livability. Not every refresh has to be a generational leap when the car is already so good.

I think it;s important to note as these cars get faster and faster, it becomes harder and harder to improve them. The 992.2 marks the beginning of that where the design is already so fast, that is hard to improve the package without doing some drastic, which would then turn it into a 3RS.

I think all the updates are more in favour of the Touring: shorter gear ratio, more road compliant suspension set up, less nervous steering, folding buckets and rear seats. But is this is enough for an upgrade from a 992.1? Prices are to ambitious in my opinion.

Misha is spot on... The problem is the devaluation of the previous versions, and thanks to this video 911.1 GT owners are thanking him... Fords does parts bin diver dumpster practice... can anyone say Mach 1.. where you build a car based on better components that are tests, bolt them on a car, and then undervalue every GT350 [ R ] in the marketplace... Seriously.. that is how you thank your client based.... Dumpster diving is lazy man engineering at a cost initiative to save the company money, while giving marketing to do or something to sell... While there is a huge delta in $$$ in mustang/ camaro performance vs 911T/ GT3... GTD and ZR1 are coming to reality that spending north of 250k is well... a greater area of options now based on offering... One comment on economics.. VW is hurting hence Porsche Ticket.. and right now.. is German company... but VW is flat.. and everything else is well. making money, but not enough to keep things afloat for long... @Oldferdinand2 ай бұрын
I don’t really think that S/T will be less valuable, cause it still has lighter flywheel, and analog tach. And I think there’s really not that much space for improvements, I even think we can get next gen GT3 with hybrid system, or with less displacement, hopefully not.
@bexigesky25992 ай бұрын
In my opinion for petrolheads there will be a general tendency in going back in the years concerning the choice of a “new” car and not only for Porsche’s cars. Euro 6d is the last acceptable emissions norm in general with the exception of some Euro 6d-temp models until 2022, afterwards it’s BS.
@tzetv2 ай бұрын
Hmm money saving by using RS / ST parts isn’t a bad thing! Wing profile is different. Suspension arms provide 40kg downforce at top speed etc. I still prefer the Touring changes for the road - everything on my wish list tbh. Remove 2 Cats and you have the RS output etc. road wins: shorter gearing to use rpm, suspension compliance, ICE.
@ej4z2 ай бұрын
To me, the part sharing aspect is positive in the context that cars like the RS and ST are both significant step ups in the realm of difficult to obtain cars, the latter of which being nearly impossible to get unless you have spent the same as the GDP of Lithuania at a dealer. In that regard, getting aspects from those cars is definitely an upgrade.

i do get what you mean many brand did this , Porsche did fall for the remaking the same thing , if they do that they improve the product over all but here, i was like meeh at the end, i did like it but the improvement index is minimalistic if not almost unexistant. i mean most brands do this but Porsche in every special edition they trend to include tech for future models, example ( 911 turbo s exclusive series using a similar powertrain as the actual 992 turbo s) and the examples you did mention but here i don't know it doesn't feel like the improve this model.

The front suspension redesign(992.1) was a huge improvement compared to smaller changes over the past few generations. the next model is obviously going to be a hybrid which, if weight is controled, will be a big change. The only thing the engine lacks is torque below 4 or 5k rpm. Development needs to continue with the production models before it is ready for the GT models.

No more Renault RS, no more petrol Hyundai N, no more Opel OPC, no more Type R Honda after this quite expensive and very limited FL5, no more Focus RS, no more Focus ST (las units being sold now)... Cupras with 150 bhp eveywhere with the same look as the 300... If you don't like Golf GTI (which is also a lot of money)... you are left wirh a Cupra Leon wich looks worse than the previous gen, a Yaris GR if you can get one and want to pat 50k+ for it... and mayybe a Mini Cooper S, not exactly cheap either.
