some people saying crossfitters have no strenght...well yeah maybe not compared to a powerlifter on the same weight, defintely not to a heavy guy like Steve

Aristides Junior someone who exclusively trains CrossFit will have no strength, a "CrossFit athlete" like the guy on this show will because none of them exclusively train crossfit, they all practice more conventional forms of training then do CrossFit only a few months from a competition to claim that they do it in the off-season
@aripmjr6 жыл бұрын
Sniff you're missing the point. There is strenght training in crossfit, sometimes with the traditionals like bench press, back squats and deadlifts, sometimes in Olympic Lifting. You either have no clue what crossfit is or don't know what you're talking.

Yeah have to wonder, by doing let’s say a CrossFit workout, would that potentially take away your performance at deadlift? How much time did these guys get to rest between each event?
@itsryanwilkes6 жыл бұрын
Guys, for next time, consider adopting a points system like they have for the decathalon in track and field, and give points based on how close they get to the world record in an event (rather than how they place). This way, for someone like Steve, he would get a more fair amount of points for his incredible deadlift. Just a thought!! Loving the show =)
@ah70276 жыл бұрын
The Path Less Traveled I agree the points system would be a nice touch. But making all the athletes the same size would have helped. A heavy weight power lifter versus a light weight weightlifter. Guys got 100 lbs on him probably lol.
@Derploop6 жыл бұрын
The Path Less Traveled but if you did that you'd need to implement weight classes and that would really offset his advantage given he's 400 pounds-ish off the WR and the tiny Olympic lifter would probably be about the same amount of weight off, or less
@itsryanwilkes6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Harrison and Derploop, ahh yes I agree with both of you guys. Good point. But don't you think that their different skill sets already provide enough variation in performance across the events? In episode 1, the powerlifter didn't do well in any events, despite his amazing strength. But you are right that their would be a disparity between the amount of points that he would get in the deadlift, vs the amount of points that the Olympic lifter would get for winning the clean, because the oly lifter is in one of the lower weight classes of the olympics. So even though he destroyed everyone here, he is not close to the world record of the 120kg+ world record. Complicated stuff haha!

I'm also not a dancer, but you can easily pick out who knows what they're doing by the look on their face most of the time. Same thing here. 7:00 to 7:16 was the best! haha it was like Lawrence was a big brother to Luis, showing and helping him how to pose. Even though they're competing against each other they're still happy to help/guide/support each other

When the weightlifter started to hang clean the weight at the top you could tell he wasn't going very high

Jake Hammaker Luis has back problems and actually he has suffered a lot of injuries, he has cleaned 195 kilos and his max deadlift was like 260 kg at 69 kg bw, now he dosent go very high because his injuries

Santlago Gv That's fair, but I just figured he was probably getting some alternate benefits out of this part of the competition rather than push himself since he did mention at the beginning of the series that he worries about the dead lift event because of his back.
