I met this guy iin 2009 in Atlanta at a Recording studio. He was working with Monica while recording her album " love over me." I was there supporting a friend of mine who was recording a gospel single . I was there about 4 hours went to the break room to buy something to eat from the vending machine and in walks the singer Miguel before the world knew him. He was so nice and down to earth he told me he was signed to jive records and was about to come out. A few hours later as I was leaving the studio I ran into Bryan Michael Cox outside and we talked for a few minutes and he was sooooooooooooo coool like I had know him for years. That was an unforgettable experience one that I would never forget.

They are what you call *Record Producer / Songwriter's.* They are Songwriters first because they both play piano and work out chords and Melodys on the piano and composes the beat and traditonal Record Producer's when they are in the studio collaborating with the Artist that sees the whole thing through all the way down to the mix of the finished product. Sean Garrett and Bryan-Michael Cox cousin Kendrick Dean Wylcard are frequent colaborates when they write and compose songs together.

He's a a *SONGWRITER* as well as he's won many Songwriter Grammy Awards for his Musical Compositions. Mary J. Blige *Be Without You.* was one of them as he did the Music, and Marry did the Lyrics. *PRODUCER=DIRECTOR* *SONGWRITER=BEAT MAKING (COMPOSER OF MUSIC) / LYRICIST (WRITER OF LYRICS)*
@PharoahsKingdom5 жыл бұрын
@@eman0828 He has ALSO PRODUCED.
@eman08285 жыл бұрын
@@PharoahsKingdom He's a Producer when he's in the studio overseeing the recording, mixing etc. He's a Songwriter when he makes beats. Some times he writes Songs on the piano when he be in the room practicing working with another Songwriter writing songs together. Basically creating the Skelton concept and then he would compose an entire musical composition. That's why Rodeny Jerkins, Pharrell Williams, Bryan Michael Cox, Tricky Stewart, Teddy Reily, etc all carry the dual role job tittle Songwriter/Producer because they are wearing two hats. Alot of people confuse beat making with producing when in reality it's not as they see the whole thing through.

I THINK that I know why Vlad didn't cut this up. There isn't any one story or quote (let alone 10-20) that sticks out to be a catchy headline for a clip, BUT this is an AWESOME story about a guy who a lot of people who don't follow R&B closely don't know, even though he has written and/or produced some of the greatest hits of the 90's and 2000's MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is the story of the power of owning the rights to your work. This guy has 9, grammys, and 100 million records sold and is set for the rest of his life. Hell, his GRAND-KIDS are set for life from the royalties. Compare that to R Kelly, who ALSO has 100 million records sold, 3 grammys (with 25 nominations) and I don't know how many #1 hits, BUT he doesn't own his publishing rights, so he couldn't even make the $100K bail to get out of jail. He had to have a friend come up with it. There is actually a pretty good chance that R. Kelly's kids and/or grand-kids are going to be broke as adults, since he didn't know how to control his assets.

*Ron Fair* acutally Produced *Mary J. Blige - Be Without You* since the oringal song was rejected after it was turned in. B. Cox mainly contributed as a Composer on that song opposed to the Record Producer role as the Ochestrator since Ron Fair said he didn't see it all the way through as it wasn't fully cooked. It was basically still a demo. So Ron Fair took over the recording project, enhanced it and fixed the parts that needed polishing and also wrote the String Arrangment that wasn't present in the oringal version of the song. But on a good note I like how B. COX broke down the *Producer* vs *Beat Maker* as I have to tell people the same thing that making beats doesn't make you a Record Producer. A real *Producer* collaborates with the Artist and Engineer in the studio that sees the whole thing through all the way down to the mix as it doesn't just end at the beat. Beat Making esp if you are composing the oringal music falls under the SongwritIng umbrella as the Composer. A *Songwriter* is both a Composer and a Lyricist but can also be one or the other. That's why B. COX says he writing songs because he composing music with another Co-Writer that does the lyrics. He writes lyrics too some times and record his demo vocals. *Scott Storch, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Teddy Reily, Tim & Bob, Timbaland, Bryan Michael Cox himself, Rodney Jerkins, Dr. DRE, Tricky Stewart, J.R Rotem, Oak Felder,* etc are all what you call *Record Producer / Songwriter's* as they are indeed wearing two hats. They all get Songwriting credits for making the beat and Production credits for producing the finished record, the Master's from A to Z! *PRODUCER=DIRECTOR* *SONGWRITER=COMPOSER / LYRICIST*
@JWill9515 жыл бұрын
