I'm having a lot of trouble learning the solo riff that james plays. I can manage stuff like Master of Puppets and Blackened but some easy motorbreath? nah too hard. Any tips?

I can only say consistency in your picking approach is key to speeding it up. Are you trying to include the G string in your hammer on and pull offs in the riff? If so, just leave that string out of it and just play the 4 6 and 4 4 on the a and d strings
